SmithCo Ranch Enterprises is a family-owned ranch and land development company located near Lampasas, Texas. We have a small, but growing team that focuses on ranch and land development and are seeking to hire a qualified and experienced heavy equipment operator on a full time basis.

The Heavy Equipment Operator works to safely and efficiently complete land development and improvement projects such as building roads, lakes, land clearing, drainage and fencing by operating heavy motorized equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, motor graders, roller packers and dump trucks.

Primary responsibilities:

• Maneuvering motorized heavy equipment to ensure the accurate removal and placement of materials.
• Keeping and maintaining the equipment in a safe manner
• Creating and maintaining a documentation and reports of day-to-day activities
• Observing stipulated safety codes at all times
• Advising the line manager of requisite upgrades, repairs, and replacements
• Providing suggestions to refine workflow and boost efficiency.
• Performing daily pre checks and post check inspections on equipment to ensure proper working order
• Completing minor repair work as needed
• Tracking scheduled maintenance of equipment and notifying their supervisor if maintenance is past due
• Helping with other ranch projects, as needed

Qualifications

• 3-5 years work experience in the Construction industry as an Equipment Operator or similar role
• Hands-on experience with the following equipment: excavator (40,000lb ), D6 bulldozer or equivalent, 10-speed dump truck
• Other heavy equipment experience that is preferred, but not necessary include road grader, roller packer and skid steer.
• A sound understanding of pertinent safety guidelines
• Ability to perform basic repairs and routine maintenance (fueling, greasing, oil changes, filter changes, etc.)
• Having a keen eye for detail
• Good time management and organizational skills
• A team player and ability to work independently
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to demonstrate operating abilities in interview
• Must have reliable transportation to and from jobsite
• Be able to work 8 hour shifts with possible overtime as needed
• Welding skills are a plus but not required
• Prefer candidate to live within 30 miles of Lampasas or willing to relocate

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

Incentive pay type:

• Performance bonus

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
