Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Associate to join our team. The Payroll Associate will be responsible for accurately processing payroll, maintaining employee records, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience with data entry, benefits administration, and basic accounting principles.
Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for employees on a regular basis, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Maintain employee records, including timecards, attendance records, and tax withholding information
- Calculate and process deductions, such as taxes, benefits contributions, and garnishments
- Prepare and distribute paychecks or direct deposits to employees
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters
- Assist with benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and terminations
- Collaborate with HR department to ensure accurate employee data and resolve any discrepancies
- Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations related to payroll processing
- Generate reports on payroll expenses, tax withholdings, and other related data as needed
Qualifications:
- Intermediate in Excel, pivot tables, Vlookups, etc.
- Previous experience in payroll processing or related role
- Strong data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficient in using 10-key typing for numerical data entry
- Familiarity with payroll software systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, QuickBooks) is a plus
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong communication skills to interact with employees regarding payroll matters
- Knowledge of governmental accounting regulations is a plus
- Experience with accounts receivable is a plus
