Smith Brothers Farms is Hiring a Quality Control Technician Near Kent, WA

Job Title: Quality Control Technician

Position Type: Professional - Non-Union

Designation Type: Full-time (Exempt)

Work Schedule: Nights M-Th (4) 10hr shifts / week 9:00pm - 7:30am (some flexibility of working (5) 8 hr. shifts if more desirable.)

Position Summary:

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for maintaining Smith Brothers Farms (SBF) Food Safety Program and Quality systems. To ensure food safety, and maintenance of the production schedule, the QC tech conducts pre-operation inspections of the production facility and issues corrections to deviations found during these inspections. The QC Tech is the primary bench analysist for the SBF laboratory. Responsible for the setup, interpretation and reporting of Microbiological and Chemical testing.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Filler Sanitation Verification of fillers.
  • Sample setup, testing, interpretation, and reporting.
  • Document review.
  • Support the Sites Food Safety Systems.
  • Provide GMP guidance.
  • Ensure Smith Brothers Farms produces safe, quality, and legal food.
  • Maintain constructive working relationships with all coworkers, manager, customers, and business partners.
  • Clock in correctly using the timeclock system daily.
  • Practice and support all Standard Operating Procedures, Safe Chemical Handling procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Safety is an essential function of every position. Wear appropriate safety gear always. Be aware of your surroundings. Report all near misses, on the job injuries and safety concerns.
  • Maintains current Good Manufacturing Practices and notifies supervisor of potential food safety issues.
  • Perform all other duties when requested or as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with management & colleagues.
  • Must have computer/data entry skills and basic skills in Microsoft office products.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Biology or Food Science (preferred).
  • FSCPA certification preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand/sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to operate a computer.
  • Must be able to perform visual, olfactory and sensory tasks.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work in varying heating/cooling conditions (30-90° F).
  • Nights, weekend (as required), and holidays.
  • QA Laboratory and Production floor (noisy environment).
