Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Extended Function Dental Assistant to join our team. As a EFDA, you will work closely with the dentist and dental hygienists to provide quality oral healthcare to our patients. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in various dental procedures and ensure the comfort and satisfaction of our patients.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare treatment rooms for dental procedures by sterilizing and arranging instruments and equipment

- Assist the dentist during procedures by handing them instruments, suctioning, and providing other necessary support

- Take and develop dental x-rays as directed by the dentist

- Perform laboratory tasks such as pouring models, trimming, and polishing temporary restorations

- Provide post-operative instructions to patients regarding oral hygiene and care

- Maintain accurate patient records and update patient charts with treatment information

- Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean and sterile environment

- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality

- Utilize dental software systems such as Epic, Eaglesoft, or CAD for scheduling appointments, updating patient information, and managing treatment plans

- Assist with medical coding for insurance claims submission

Experience:

- Proven experience as an EFDA

- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments

- Proficiency in taking dental x-rays and operating dental imaging equipment

- Familiarity with medical coding systems for insurance claims submission

- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, dentists, and other team members
