Job Description: 

The Director for Parking and Transportation oversees all parking, transportation and fleet operations for Powder Mountain. The essential work involves planning, managing, and directing daily parking and transportation including for resort customers and staff. 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for all aspects of parking and transportation operations at Powder Mountain. Ensures a safe and welcoming environment for employees and guests. 
  • Annual development and implementation of the parking and transportation budget, determining appropriate fee structures required to sustain the integrity of parking operations and build reserves for resort parking and transportation needs.
  • Leads and directs activities of Shuttle Operations in accordance with business needs and levels.
  • Ensures all parking areas are safe, clean, and up to code with required signage. 
  • Responsible for maximizing the space usage of all parking areas to ensure best traffic flow.
  • Management of resort vehicle fleet and work closely with vehicle maintenance to ensure optimum performance and efficiency.
  • Implement equipment, signage, programs, policies, practices and systems to ensure effective, efficient, principled and customer service-oriented operations. 
  • Ensure customers and employees are treated with unreasonable hospitality, courteous and respect.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, and conducts regular performance of supervisors and managers.
  • Develops, coaches and mentors team as a whole and as individuals.
  • Develops and grows as a leader through technology, innovation, and efficiency.
  • Deals with government agencies, regulations and lawsuits concerning operational issues. Assures compliance with all government regulations and laws.
  • Manages payroll for above departments for overtime and adjusts according to business levels and needs.
  • Coordinates day to day activities of above departments with all other Powder Mountain departments in order to provide safe and smooth mountain operation. 
  • As a director of Powder Mountain and a member of management team, actively participates in strategic planning and budgeting activities.
  • Works closely with senior leadership team in creating unreasonable hospitality, a welcoming employee environment, and upholding financial responsibilities.
  • Provides advice and counsel to the Chief Operating Officer on operational and other company policies.
  • Attends regular weekly meetings with management team and whole resort.
  • Leads Safety programs. Holds weekly and monthly safety meetings and investigates employee and guest injuries.
  • Communicates regularly to team and all departments at the Resort through technology and face to face interactions.
  • Manages team in a proactive, feedback driven environment.
  • Handles problems and copes with the unexpected and daily tasks.
  • Participates and supports employee events and parties.
  • Performs or assists team in performing duties whenever necessary.

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge and experience in applying best practices to ski resort parking and transportation programs. 
  • Ability to work and drive in extreme mountain weather conditions, especially during snow storms, to ensure customer safety.
  • Experience working with an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system for parking (e.g., T2 Systems PowerPark, Cardinal Tracking). 
  • Experience reviewing maintenance requirements of surface and structured parking, and knowledgeably recommending repairs within industry best practices. 
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining programs and services that incorporate active transportation and transit-oriented transportation. 
  • Experience planning and managing parking and transportation operations for large events such as concerts, sporting events, and the like. 
  • Experience with the development and revision of a parking and transportation plan, incorporating ski resort best practices. 
  • Must be able to demonstrate, train and lead unreasonable hospitality principles.
  • Must have excellent communication, leadership, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate daily.
  • Must be able to serve customers and maintain good service during intense conditions.
  • Must have strong computer skills, database analysis experience.
  • Ability to analyze trends and situations in industry and turn them into business opportunities.
  • Demonstrates good judgment by analyzing the impact of decisions on the rest of the organization. Seeks information from multiple sources.
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities and allocate resources efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Highly organized and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Enjoys working in a team dynamic.
  • Represents the company in a favorable manner on and off premises.
  • Willingness to help in any job or position at resort.
  • 3-5 years experience in parking operations.
  • Four year college degree preferred.
  • Proficient in Word, Office and Excel, Google.
