Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director to lead SmartStart STEM Academy. The Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of center operations, including staff management, curriculum development, family engagement, regulatory compliance, and financial management. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education, a strong understanding of STEM principles, and a commitment to providing high-quality care and education for young children. The Director/Group Supervisor reports directly to the QARM regarding but not limited to the following.

Responsibilities:

• Leadership: Provide visionary leadership and direction to staff, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
• Staff Management: Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate daycare staff, ensuring adherence to SmartStart’s philosophy and standards.
• Curriculum Development: Design and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that incorporates STEM principles and aligns with Pennsylvania’s early learning standards.
• Family Engagement: Foster strong relationships with parents, providing regular communication, opportunities for involvement, and support for their child's development.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all state and local regulations governing daycare centers, including licensing requirements, health and safety standards, and reporting.
• Financial Management: Develop and manage the daycare center budget, overseeing expenses, tuition collection, and financial reporting.
• Community Building: Represent SmartStart STEM Academy in the local community, building partnerships and participating in outreach activities to promote the center's mission and services.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field preferred.
• An associate's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 3 years of experience with children.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role within a daycare or early childhood education setting.
• Strong understanding of STEM principles and their application in early childhood education.
• Knowledge of Pennsylvania’s early learning standards and best practices in childcare.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities, problem-solve effectively, and work collaboratively with staff and families.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 35 per week
