The Job:
SmartStart Education seeks a paraeducator to work with high school students Monday-Friday at a school in New Haven, CT.
The paraeducator will serve as a 1:1 para aide for SPED students as assigned. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with arrival and dismissal procedures, assisting in the cafeteria, and assisting in other duties assigned by the administration.
Job Details:
The position begins as soon as possible and ends on June 13, 2024. The schedule will be Monday - Friday from 7:45 am through 3:20 pm. Applicants are encouraged to schedule interviews as soon as possible to allow ample time to complete onboarding steps. Failure to do so may result in a position being unavailable.

  • Complete all onboarding tasks promptly, which may include tasks such as accessing email accounts, providing fingerprints for security purposes, uploading personal information, and completing any required training, as specified.

Qualified Candidates:
If you believe that this position aligns with your qualifications and showcases your exceptional skills, we kindly request your confirmation regarding your ability to meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Possession of an Associate’s Degree (or higher), OR have completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education, OR Achieve at least a score of 457 on the EST ParaPro Assessment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing in: Reading, writing and mathematics.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges faced by urban students, schools, and communities, encompassing racial disparity, socio-economic disparity, and cultural disparity.
  • Display of genuine passion and unwavering commitment towards fostering the success of students.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred, although not required.
  • Exemplary punctuality, ensuring timely attendance and adherence to established schedules.
  • Proficiency in communication skills, enabling effective and articulate interaction with students, colleagues, and interested parties.
  • Ability to comfortably commute to the designated location.
