Food Scientist

Seeking a Food Scientist to play a key role in beverage and fruit concentrate product innovation. Must be creative, shelf-motivated, analytical, detail oriented with strong flavor and culinary understanding. The position offers an opportunity to learn, contribute and grow within a fast-growing Beverage company with highly innovative successful products and global reach. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors’ in Food Science or related field with at least 1 years product development experience, preferably in beverages.

Responsibilities:

• Bench-top formulation of new products and scale up prototypes. Take new products from idea to commercialization
• Lead sensory evaluation of raw materials, flavors, products, and prototypes. Must be able to taste different ingredients, including fruits and vegetables, as well as commercial food products
• Able to timely translate customer requests to prototypes that meet all the criteria. Ship samples, maintain retainers and create accurate formulations in company system
• Work with Supply Chain and Quality Assurance to source, screen and qualify new raw materials and vendors and assure regulatory compliance
• Conduct stability studies on existing and new products to confirm shelf life and other product attributes
• Evaluate competitive products, follow market trends and technologies, propose and design new innovative prototypes/products
• Able to design and conduct experiments, analyze data, report findings and make recommendations
• Assist in developing SOPs and technology transfer documents to production and QC
• Support onsite plant trials, first production runs and troubleshoot production issues in conjunction with QC
• Maintain the lab testing equipment through periodic maintenance and calibrations
• Manage Inventory of laboratory supplies, raw materials and samples
• Adhere to all company safety regulations and rules.
• Report to the Head of R&D

Qualifications/Skills:

• B. S. in Food Science, Food Chemistry, or related field
• 1-3 years of demonstrated accomplishments in beverage product development or similar field
• Familiarity with lab equipment (pH meter, Brix meter, analytical balance, etc.)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Site and especially Excel
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage concurrently multiple projects
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with colleagues and customers
• You must be a Permanent Resident of the USA or have a valid Green Card to be considered.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
