Overview

The Head of Retail Operations is a critical role in SmartestEnergy, with responsibility for delivering on the promises of operational excellence and integrity made to our brokers, partners and customers. It is the key stakeholder for our Sales team, a key coordinator of effort across the other Operations Group functions of Market Operations, Sales Support and Business Intelligence and a key contact point for IT and Finance teams in delivery of projects and the company’s financial reporting. This is a role that requires a lot but offer endless growth and potential in a business that has just been recognized by the industry and its partners as one of the leading suppliers nationally.

In this role, you will be involved with the following:

• Own operational excellence of functional areas including customer care, complex billing, account maintenance, and collections.
• Implement systems, processes, reporting and controls to drive efficiency.
• Support business expansion efforts in accordance with target operating model – including through products, markets and by merger and acquisition.
• Create structure to help us manage, operate and lead more effectively.
• Build relationships with key vendors to support our current business and future growth, driving system, process and transformational change throughout Ops.
• Develop leaders within the company and setting them on a path for management.
• Establish and maintain team focus by developing and communicating goals.
• Work collaboratively with other leaders and other departments to support their efforts in accomplishing company goals.
• Develop others by delegating responsibility and providing feedback.
• All other duties as assigned or required.

To be successful in this role, you are likely to have the following skills/experience:

• 5-10 years’ experience in management role in the energy industry.
• Prior experience as a leader.
• Prior experience of delivering transformational business and platform change and delivery of successful outcomes (i.e., seeing through to the end).
• A good understanding of workflow management.
• Acting as a leading collaborator across multiple business teams.
• Experience as a manager responsible for ensuring rigor and discipline in day-to-day business operations.
• Vision and common sense and ability to problem solve independently.
  • Strong analysis back by critical and strategic thinking skill.
• Knowledge of the electricity industry, its structures, market dynamics and process.
• Deep understanding of the systems the industry uses to deliver service and billing to customers and brokers.
