Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Dental Assistant to join our team. As a Dental Assistant, you will work closely with the dentist and dental hygienist to provide quality dental care to our patients. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.
Duties:
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including preparing the treatment room, sterilizing instruments, and passing instruments to the dentist
- Take and develop dental x-rays and perform other medical imaging as needed
- Conduct patient assessments, including taking vital signs and documenting medical history
- Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety
- Perform dental assisting duties such as mixing materials, taking impressions, and fabricating temporary crowns
- Assist with dental receptionist duties, including scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and managing patient records
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality
- Maintain infection control standards by sterilizing equipment and disinfecting treatment rooms
- Provide support in pediatric dentistry, ensuring a positive experience for young patients
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of dental assisting techniques and procedures
- Proficiency in medical imaging and taking dental x-rays
- Excellent patient assessment skills
- Solid understanding of anatomy and oral health
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy practices
- Experience with dental receptionist duties, including using Eaglesoft or similar software for appointment scheduling and record keeping
- Knowledge of medical coding for insurance billing purposes is a plus
- Ability to maintain infection control standards in accordance with OSHA guidelines
- Comfortable working with pediatric patients
Education and Experience:
The Dental Assistant must have completed a Dental Assistant training program from an accredited Dental Assistant school. Training must include dental radiology and radiology safety. The Dental Assistant shall be certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association and have a minimum of 1 years of experience providing Dental Assistant services, which also provided knowledge of dental pharmacy issues. Bilingual oral communication skills and experience in a clinical correctional setting are desirable, but not required.
