POSITION SUMMARY:

Determine quantity of batters to produce, mix and bake cakes and cupcakes, and prepare the store for opening in accordance with SmallCakes standards and policies. Frost non-custom cupcake orders and store cupcakes. Prospective employees should be outgoing, friendly, hard-working, dependable and a team player. Most positions are initially part-time. Part-time positions may lead to full-time employment based on job performance and available openings.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    *Calculate sufficient quantities of cupcakes to make for store *Calculate proper quantities of batter to make for orders *Mix and bake cake/cupcake batters consistently *Adhere to SmallCakes policies and procedures, as well as State and Federal laws. *Unload and store merchandise, prepare and display products in accordance with SmallCakes standards, recipes, and policies in compliance with Food Safety Policies and Procedures and Health Department regulations. *Monitor product quality; make sure it is always fresh and safe. *Assist with periodic inventories, sending purchase requests, and seasonal store resets *Keep backrooms and coolers clean and well organized. *Keep carts, tools, equipment and supplies in their designated areas. *Keep floors clean, safe, and free from clutter. *Wash and sanitize bakeware and utensils in accordance with SmallCakes and Health Department policies and procedures. *Be prompt, tactful, calm, courteous, and professional in all interactions. *Must be able to effectively communicate with customers and associates. *Assist Bakery Clerks as needed with greeting and waiting on customers promptly and cheerfully.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
  • Must be available to work two 6 hour shifts per week.
  • Basic math skills are required.
  • Willing to work Saturdays and Holidays as needed.
  • Self-starter who also follows through to completion.
  • Able to read shelf tags, signs, product labels, and training materials.
  • Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills that engage our customers and associates.
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities, present information in a professional manner and work with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and a willingness to help all members of the department.
  • Possess abilities and skills for effective production, merchandising, and customer services.
  • Must be able to work with various cleaning solutions, safely use sharp tools, and carefully operate all production equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • On feet up to 8 hours per day
  • Dexterity to twist, squat, bend, push, reach, and pull
  • Frequently lift 20-50 pounds

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

    *2 years previous experience in food preparation or other related positions *Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices, safety, and food handling.
