Job Details

Job Location: Main Campus Locations - Atlanta, GA
Education Level: Graduate Degree
Salary Range: Undisclosed
Job Category: Health Care

Description

Skyland Trail is a nonprofit primary psychiatric residential treatment program for adults and adolescents. The adult residential treatment program located in Brookhaven/Atlanta, GA, treats adults ages 18 with a mood, anxiety, or thought disorder.

Staff psychiatrists for the adult psychiatric residential treatment program serve as the healthcare team leader for one or more diagnosis-specific treatment tracks (i.e. CBT, DBT, cognition and first episode psychosis, social integration, and dual diagnosis). Staff psychiatrists collaborate with a multidisciplinary team that includes mental health therapists, expressive therapy coordinators, nutritionists, vocational counselors, nurses, and residential staff. Staff psychiatrists lead treatment planning and guide evidence-based, measurement-driven care.

Staff psychiatrists serve as the primary psychiatrist for a caseload of adult patients enrolled in residential treatment, day treatment (PHP), and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs, providing medication management and psychotherapy. Residential and day treatment patients are seen weekly, and IOP patients are seen biweekly.

Staff psychiatrists are responsible for timely documentation of orders and session notes and for communicating changes in the treatment plan to the treatment team. Psychiatrists also are available for periodic consultation with patient families.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Skyland Trail adult treatment program treats adults ages 18 and older with a primary mood, thought, or anxiety disorder. A typical length of stay for adults at the residential level of care is about 8 weeks. Most clients continue treatment at the day treatment or intensive outpatient level of care. Though struggling with their mental illness, Skyland Trail patients have entered treatment voluntarily, and clients and their families are engaged in their treatment program.

Skyland Trail campuses include gardens, private patient rooms, and common rooms that provide a therapeutic, healing environment for our clients and families. Clients participate in individual and group psychotherapy as well as expressive therapies, vocational services, nutrition counseling, and fitness activities.

A key philosophy at Skyland Trail is that we expect our clients to get better. We help our clients identify their own goals for their future, and we help them develop the skills needed to pursue those goals in healthy and effective ways.

The Skyland Trail adult treatment program is an evidence-based treatment program that has earned The Joint Commission gold seal of approval since 1995.
