SkyGrid is Hiring a Systems IPT Lead Near Austin, TX

SkyGrid is defining a future where highly automated aircraft operate without the need for onboard pilots. We develop the safety-of-life approved flight operations management services for such aircraft to ensure operations of all participants in the air transportation system are safe and secure.

The SkyGrid team is looking for a Systems IPT Lead to Responsible for the development, integration, and testing of a cloud-based PSU which enables the planning and monitoring of UAM (Urban Air Mobility) flight. The candidate will be the technical lead of a multidisciplinary team composed of system engineers, software engineers, validation & verification engineers, and autonomy engineers. The IPT lead is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering the associated documentation and software according to the program plan. This person will coordinate the team activities with the other IPT leads and report the progress to the System engineering manager and chief engineer.

Performance Objectives:

  • Update the System design and architecture within the System/Subsystem Design Description.
  • Support the gate maturation reviews as needed 
  • Release the system specifications
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the System design of the PSU functions for UAM in accordance with industry standards.
  • Lead the development, decomposition, and tracking of system requirements from initial design to final verification and validation. 
  • Lead the development, modeling, and documentation of the System functional and physical architecture.
  • Lead the identification of the System interfaces and support the integration of data service providers 
  • Support the development and review of test plans and documentation ensuring that test execution will result in a successful requirement verification. 
  • Support component procurement and conduct system trades
  • Support design reviews through the system development 
  • Support technology maturation of advanced system functionality in accordance with industry standards 
Qualifications:
  • 10 years of experience working in a highly technical, aerospace-related industry
  • 5 years of experience as an avionics system engineer in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems. 
  • Understands the UAM construct and is familiar with the concept of PSU functions and their role in UAM implementation. 
  • Experience working on certified aerospace programs with all phases of the SE (Systems Engineering) design process including: ConOps, Requirements Development, Software / System Architecture, System Integration and Test, Verification and Validation. 
  • Familiarity with ARP 4754A along with being to support System Safety reviews in accordance with ARP4761 
  • Proven experience of system/SW architectural design 
  • Effective communication skills, self-driven and capable of participating in senior leadership discussions 
  • Must demonstrate the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders 
  • Able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders 
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and practices and requirement tools (e.g. Polarion) 
  • Familiarity with MBSE tool (e.g. Cameo) 
  • Demonstrate mastery of system architecture concepts, understand the implication of choices down to the implementation level 
  • Bachelor's degree in systems, Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or related STEM degree from an accredited university or college 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced Engineering degree (Masters) from an accredited institution 
  • Familiarity with Cloud technologies (GCP, AWS, Azure)
