SKLD Bloomfield Hills is Hiring a Registered Nurse - RN Near Bloomfield, MI

Position Summary:

In keeping with ourorganization’s goal of improving the lives of the Residents we serve; theCharge Nurse plays a critical role in providing superior customer service andnursing services to all Residents on the assigned unit as well as in thefacility as a whole. The Charge Nurse assists the Director of Nursing, UnitManagers, and/or the Assistant Director of Nursing in the planning, development,and overall operation of the assigned unit, which ensures Residents receivequality care 24 hours a day.

Principal Dutiesand Responsibilities:

Reasonable accommodations may bemade to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essentialfunctions.

·Assess Residentsconditions to implement intervention and develop Care Plans.Accurately record Residents observations inPCC and follow through on Care Plans. Assure facility medical records policiesand procedures are adhered to.

·Make regular rounds of Residents independentlyand with a physician; observe and evaluate Residents’symptoms, progress, and reactions to treatments and medications andimplements interventions, as necessary.

·Provide preventative, supportive, maintenance, and rehabilitativecare directed to the physiologic and psychosocial needs and well-being of Residents.

·Provide care to Residents byperforming a variety of treatments, including changing dressing, cleansingand/or irrigating wounds and incisions, performing Foley Catheter irrigations,IV therapy, and administering tube feedings, chest tubes and peritonealdialysis.

·Request and assure supplies and medical equipment are available toperform care and treatments as required by the Residents.

·Schedule appointments, physicians, therapy, and consults.

·Monitorand assist CNAs/STNAs with personal Residents careduties such as bathing, feeding, and assisting with ambulation, and otherroutine accommodative services for Residents comfortand well-being.

·Receive report from outgoing Charge Nurse andmake rounds to see each Residents dailyand as needed.

·Administer medications to Residents accordingto the Public Health Code, Nursing Department Policies, and standards andprocedures and as prescribed by the physician; notify appropriate clinicaland/or nursing personnel of medication contraindications.

·Advise Residents and/orresponsible persons regarding changes in medications, treatment plans, and Resident condition.

·Manage and document emergency care of Residents,coordinating communications to physicians, responsible persons, DON andAdministrator, hospital personnel, emergency transport, and other appropriatepersonnel.

·Preform comprehensive and focused nursing assessments inconjunction with changes in condition and scheduled programs.

·Assist with new admissions,re-admissions and assist with the transfer of Residentsto different rooms within the assigned unit. Requestsand assures supplies and equipment are available to perform care and treatmentas required by the patient prior to or at the time of admission. Assurecompletion of weekly, periodic and discharge summaries.

·Perform quality improvement activities as assigned by the Directorof Nursing, Unit Manager and/or ADON.

·Monitor rate of accident/incidents occurrences and infection rateon the unit and develop suggestions for corrective action.

·Report Residents and staffcomplaint and all unusual occurrences to the Director of Nursing orAdministrator and any allegation of Abuse/misappropriation or neglect to the Administratorimmediately

·Participate in periodic regulatory surveys by the State ofMichigan and participates in the preparation of the Plan of Correction responseto an inspection survey.

·Complete and report Resident injuryto the Unit Manager.

·Know and support facility philosophy, standards, policies, andprocedures

·Communicate with department heads on an as-needed basis to problemsolve and plan for more effective patient care.

·Inform Director of Nursing or Unit Manager/ADON when staffingrequirements are not met.

·Present a professional appearance and serve as unit role model

·Maintain own professional requirements for continuing educationand staff development by participating in work related seminars, etc.

·Promotes compliance with accident prevention procedures, safetyrules, and safe work practices to prevent employee injury and illness andcontrol worker’s compensation costs.

·Ensure equipment is used in a safemanner and report any maintenance concerns to the Director of Maintenance. Reports all hazardous conditions, damagedequipment and supply issues to the appropriate persons.

·Adheres to the Nurse Practice Act.

·Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of Residents and interacts with them in a manner thatdisplays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment.

·Must answer and respond to call lightspromptly and courteously when working in Residents careareas.

·Communicates and interacts effectively andtactfully with Residents, visitors,families, peers and supervisors.

·Maintainsa high level of confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines at alltimes and protects confidential information by only providing information on a“need-to-know” basis.

·Attend staff meetings and in-services asrequested. Attends in-service and education programs and attends continuingeducation required for maintenance of professional certification or licensure.

·Understands Infection Control and follows theCompany’s Infection Control guidelines, such as hand washing principles, understandingof isolation and standard precautions, recognizing signs and symptoms ofinfection, demonstrating and understanding of the process for identifying andhandling infectious waste and cross contamination, maintaining personalhygiene, and complying with OSHA standards in the workplace.

·Promotes and Protects Resident Rights byassisting Residents to make informeddecisions, treating Residents with dignityand respect, protecting Residents’ personalbelongings, reporting suspected abuse or neglect, avoiding the need forphysical restraints in accordance with current professional standards, andsupporting independent expression, choice and decision-making consistent withapplicable laws and regulations.

·Perform other tasks as required.

Supervisory Responsibility:

License Practical Nurses: Thisposition provides general supervision to CNAs/STNAs, including CNA/STNA retraining,counseling sessions, and implementation of disciplinary actions as necessary. Thisposition does not direct or supervise the work of Registered Nurses.
