About Us
Skinny Gene Project is unlike your typical 501c (3) non-profit. We are the first in San Diego County to be awarded Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) FULL Recognition as a provider of the National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP). We partner with the CDC to deliver the program and continually collaborate with other local and state organizations to increase our reach.
Job Description
Our organization is looking for a passionate Community Outreach Coordinator to connect with the community and help with the implementation of the CDC recognized Diabetes Prevention Program.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for reaching out to individuals to promote and assist lifestyle change program enrollment
- Listen to community members in a culturally sensitive way
- Provide assistance to the Patient Care Specialist in the coordination center
- Emphasis on the intake of new participants
- Must be able to use Excel and have good attention to detail for data entry
- Administrative responsibilities
- Assist with outreach campaigns with the end goal being enrollment in the program
- Assist with team management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Communications, Health Promotion or related field
- Experience in community outreach via phone
- Minimum of 6-month commitment with a possibility of extension (performance evaluation at 3 months mark)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Have excellent written and oral communications skills in English and Spanish
- Be able to work independently, with initial guidance
- Be flexible and detail-oriented
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 per week
