Shift: Day, Full Time, 7a-7p, 13 shifts per month W/E and holidays alternating weekends

Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse in Observation provides direct patient care, collaborating with patients, families, peers, physicians, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team. They assess patient needs, plan care, implement and evaluate medical and nursing regimens according to hospital standards. This role involves demonstrating leadership skills and a commitment to professional growth.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include:

• Utilizing the nursing process to meet age-specific patient needs.
• Collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Integrating patient rights and nursing ethics into work practice.
• Adhering to infection control standards and patient safety goals.
• Delegating activities as per the State Nurse Practice Act.
• Supporting and promoting professional nursing practice models.
• Participating in Performance Improvement initiatives.
• Completing competency requirements and attending mandatory in-services.
• Assuming Charge Nurse responsibility and performing related duties.

Education & Experience Requirements:

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current New York registration.
• Baccalaureate in Nursing (BSN) required for external RNs hired on or after January 1st, 2018.
• BSN required for RNs hired between January 1st, 2016, and January 1st, 2018, by January 1st, 2020.
• BSN required for RNs hired before January 1st, 2016, by January 1st, 2022.
• Knowledge of current nursing, medical, and health trends.
• One year of acute care nursing experience preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required for specific units.
• Successful completion of Department and Unit Orientation Program.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $105,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
