The Environmental Health & Safety Manager is responsible for the integration of environmental health & safety services into the business practices and compliance with regulatory requirements on their assigned Project. The EHS manager shall be project based. The EHS manager oversees responsibilities of their assigned Project as related to environmental health & safety services and has direct interaction with EH&S Staff, Superintendents, Project Manager, Project Executive and Area / Regional EHS Director.

We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or Environmental Studies or closely related field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Certifications: Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD), Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP), Caltrans Water Pollution Control Manager (WPCM), 40 Hour Hazwoper training and current 8-Hour Refresher
  • Ability to manage Environmental Consultants or Subcontractors
  • Ability to understand and interpret construction documents, permit requirements and more specifically Caltrans and LA Metro Plans and Specifications, SWPPP and WPCP Forms, and Recordkeeping
  • Experience: Provide environmental trainings and orientations to project teams
  • Experience: Collecting field samples of stormwater for pH, turbidity, and TMDLs or non-visible pollutants
  • Experience: Coordination with analytical laboratories, completing Chain of Custodies (CoCs) and understanding analytical results
  • Experience: Shall have a minimum of three (3) years industry experience in sustainability design, construction processes and programs. Shall have industry experience in integrating sustainability within a fast paced, multi-disciplinary, complex projects and full understanding of the sustainability design, construction processes and programs
  • Experience: Knowledge of local/state/federal laws and regulations, including but not limited to: California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), California Air Resources Board (CARB), South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board (LARWQCB), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
  • General understanding of environmental issues related to biological, cultural and paleontological resources, hazards, land use, asbestos, lead, noise and vibration.
  • Experience with hazardous materials and soil and groundwater contamination.
  • Experience with South Coast AQMD Rule 403 and Dust Control Plans and other applicable South Coast AQMD Rules
  • Experience with Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) and storm water Best Management Practices (BMPs).
  • Demonstrated planning, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prepare written reports in a clear and concise manner.
