Skagit Art Preschool is Hiring a Nonprofit Preschool Assistant Teacher Near Mount Vernon, WA

We are seeking a passionate individual dedicated to fostering the holistic intellectual, creative, and psychological development of preschool children. At Skagit Art Preschool, we value creativity, and our teachers play a crucial role in planning and implementing student activities that cater to various learning styles.

As an Assistant Teacher, your responsibilities include:

Create a Nurturing Environment:

  • Foster a safe and supportive atmosphere that encourages the developmental and emotional well-being of preschool children.

Collaborative Problem-Solving:

  • Demonstrate creative problem-solving skills and maintain a positive, understanding, and flexible approach while working with children and fellow staff members.

Activity Preparation and Implementation:

  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of classroom activities designed for preschool children.
  • Plan and execute activities that cater to various learning styles, aligning with the preschool's educational goals.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, incident reports, and other necessary documentation.
  • Keep track of individual student progress, achievements, and any special considerations.

Maintenance of Learning Environment:

  • Perform duties related to maintaining a clean and safe learning environment.
  • Responsibilities may include preparing and serving snacks, diapering, kitchen clean-up, and ensuring the safety of the playground area.

Communication with Professional Staff:

  • Maintain open communication with professional staff regarding any issues or concerns related to students.

Parental Communication:

  • Foster open communication with parents and/or authorized guardians, providing regular updates on children's progress and addressing any concerns.

Emergency First Aid:

  • Certification in First Aid and CPR, along with adherence to other Washington Administrative Code (WAC) requirements.

Resource Management:

  • Help manage and organize classroom materials, supplies, and resources.
  • Keep an inventory of supplies and notify appropriate personnel when replenishment is needed.

Qualifications:

Required

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • CPR/First Aid Certified (within 30 days of hire)
  • Food Handlers Permit (within 30 days of hire)
  • STARS Training: Completion of 30 hours of STARS training (within 30 days of hire)
  • Covid-19 Vaccination: Full vaccination for Covid-19 is required.
  • Reliability: Have reliable transportation and consistently arrive on time for scheduled shift
  • Must be able to pass a full background check
  • 6 months experience working in childcare

Preferred

  • ECE credits/training
  • Merit Account with 10 continued star training hours

Job Type: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $16.28 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 30 per week
