They work under general supervision from a designated supervisor. Rounds on all cardiac surgery inpatients. Document progress notes, discharge summaries, and consults. Put in orders and ensure bedside nursing is executing the plan of care. Schedule and coordinate emergency cardiac surgeries. Communicate with patients and their families. Coordinate care with consulting providers and bedside nursing staff. Answer halos/pages taking care of issues throughout the weekend. Cover call for SIU CTS established outpatients. Salary: $31.48 Anticipated End Date: 6/17/2023 FACULTY POSITION DESCRIPTION For the Period of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023 NAME: RANK: Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery TITLE: TRACK: ____________________________________________________ DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Surgery/Urology POSITION PURPOSE: This is an academic position in the practice and teaching of urology to medical students, residents, and allied health professionals at Touchette Hospital, with direct responsibilities to the Chief of the Division of Urology. FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: This individual reports to the Chief of the Division of Urology, who reports to the Chairman of the Department of Surgery, who reports to the Dean and Provost of the School of Medicine. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrates, by actions, commitment to the mission and the behavioral standards of SIU School of Medicine. Provides excellent service to both internal and external customers through collaboration and partnership; compassion and respect; integrity and accountability; diversity and inclusion; as well as continuous learning and improvement. Teaching 5% This position requires the integration of urology, with emphasis placed on general urology in the educational programs of ancillary personnel, undergraduate medical education, the general surgery and urology surgery residents, in addition to continuing education in the community and its physicians. 1. Participate in the development and implementation of specific undergraduate curriculum in urology. 2. Participate directly in urology residency training. 3. Participate in continuing education programs in urology within the clinical faculty and for practicing physicians in the area. 4. Provide a role model as a teacher in urology. II. Service (Patient Care) 90% Participates in programs designed to provide enhanced care for patients in central and southern Illinois, as they specifically relate to the area of urology. 1. Assist in the coordination of multiple disciplinary clinics for the care of urology patients. 1 2. Be an example of highly skilled and conscientious practice of urology that is balanced with self-education and other academic activities, setting an example to future practitioners in urology. 3. Maintain a urology practice in order to maintain clinical proficiency. 4. Provide a role model as a practitioner for faculty, house staff, learners and fellow practitioners. 5. Participate in peer review for assessing clinical practice for faculty within the Division. 6. Represent the Division of Urology in regional, state and national matters pertaining to the field of urology. 7. Attend national meetings, symposia, etc., in urology and related fields for the purpose of contribution, gaining of further knowledge and as an example to other physicians and learners. 8. Present papers at meetings of urology and other related fields. 9. Serve on committees in national, regional and state societies pertaining to urology. 10. Represent the Department of Surgery or the Division of Urology, or both, on committees as requested by the Chairman of the Department or the Chief of the Division of Urology. III. Research 5% 1. Actively engage in research and scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment of the Division. 2. Provide a role model for students and residents as an investigator. 3. Seek appropriate funding mechanisms to support research. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Board certified or Board eligible in Urology 2. Able to be licensed in the State of Illinois 3. Successful completion of a urology residency program 4. MD license 5.
