SIU Medicine is Hiring a Health Matters Program Director (5003-18) Near Springfield, IL

Description

Under general direction, the Program Director serves as the principal manager for the Office of Correctional Medicine's (OCM) Health Matters program. This position is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation and maintenance of the patient education & health literacy offerings to incarcerated individuals throughout the State of Illinois. Collaborates with internal and external resources to locate subject matter experts for delivery of best practice information. This position also represents SIU School of Medicine (SOM) Office of Correctional Medicine's interests in administrative and business operations when directed.

Examples of Duties

Administration - 100%

  1. Manages, develops, coordinates and maintains the Health Matters program in the Office of Correctional Medicine that seeks to improve individual health advocacy and build trust with healthcare providers and clinicians; includes but is not limited to patient education and health literacy offerings statewide, clinical educational materials, community educational programs, public information campaigns, public policy support and collaboration with other organizations involved in the field of correctional medicine locally, regionally, and nationally.
  2. Develops administrative procedures and policies to OCM staff, answering inquiries and resolving problems pertaining to policies and procedures. Directs the compilation and maintenance of procedure manuals and information materials. Assists the Executive Director on high-level confidential special projects and operational and administrative priorities.
  3. Manages and prepares short-term and long-term strategic, organizational and budgetary planning and working documents for the OCM relating to the Health Matters program.
  4. Responsible for planning and preparation for presentations, videos, brochures and other materials; coordinates all details of Health Matters educational programs, including researching and selecting appropriate educational content, assembling program materials, scheduling all programs and speakers, follow up with all current and potential partners and stakeholders.
  5. Fosters relationships with multiple groups and organizations to obtain and maintain OCM's role of high standards in the field of correctional medicine.
  6. Maintains an overall awareness of organizational activities of import or impact to the designated member(s) of the unit staff and the unit; develops and trains OCM staff and partners on ethical, compassionate and non-judgmental aspects and techniques needed in the performance of services.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, management, labor relations or a field related to position.
  2. Four (4) years of proven experience with professional-level program design and development, and training and education of public programs
