POSITION PURPOSEThe Service Technician I performs preventive maintenance services and entry level repairs or other repairs with supervision on a variety of rental equipment to ensure that equipment continues to run according to manufacturer’s specifications and is in optimal ready to use condition for rental customers. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESRecord maintenance and repair work performed by completing necessary paperwork in a timely mannerDiagnose and repair equipment, to include liquid propane, gas, and diesel engines, electric motors, transmissions, drive axles, differentials, hydraulic systems, brake systems, steering systems, electrical systems, lifting systems, etc. Rebuild and/or repair all components and systems on a variety of rental equipment Properly block, chock and chain equipment, and disassemble equipment as needed to facilitate major component removal and repair Perform diagnostic troubleshooting and failure analysis on all components and systems Perform equipment inspections to identify potential problems and safety concerns Perform basic welding as necessary Record maintenance and repair work performed by completing necessary paperwork in a timely manner Complete basic and advanced technical training as assigned Maintain parts and supplies needed for job completion Maintain a culture of safety & participate in all safety meetings Perform other related duties as assigned. Basic Knowledge & CompetenciesExcellent customer service skills Knowledge or training in automotive, diesel, equipment repair. Familiarity with machinery and/or equipment used in construction, distribution or manufacturing industry a plus. Excellent mechanical aptitude, technical knowledge and problem- solving skills Good verbal and written communication skills Previous Experience/EducationHigh school diploma or GED equivalent required Mechanical or trade school certificate preferred 6 months experience in equipment repair or related industry preferred Welding and/or fabrication skills and/or experience preferred Valid driver’s license required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Standing, walking, lifting, twisting and bending on a frequent basis Ability to lift up to 75 pounds Must furnish own tools
