POSITION SUMMARY :

The Physical Therapist Assistant will help Physical Therapists provide physical therapy treatments and procedures to help patients restore function and mobility. The Physical Therapist Assistant may, in accordance with state laws, assist in the carrying out routine functions of physical therapy treatments, document the progress of treatment, and modify specific treatments in accordance within the scope of treatment plans established by a Physical Therapist.

Instructs and counsels patients effectively in exercises. Identifies patient’s needs and exhibit compassion, caring, and empathy to individual differences. Implements selected components of care and interventions in a technically competent manner. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Implements physical therapy treatment plan under direction of a Physical Therapist in a technically competent manner. 
• Effectively instructs, motivates, and assists patients during performance of exercises and functional activities to reduce pain, improve range of motion, strength, and endurance. 
• Collaborates with physical therapy staff and other providers to recommend options, modifications, and coordination of treatment. Communicates with and instructs caregivers and family members on patient therapeutic activities and treatment plans.
• Assist in cleaning and maintenance of equipment and treatment rooms.
• Complete documentation to support delivery of physical therapy treatments. 
• Ensure continued competence and updated knowledge of physical therapy treatments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent customer service and patient care skills.
• Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
• NC Physical Therapy Assistant license

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
• Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients.
• Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
