Material SpecialistPosition Summary 

Under direct supervision, the Material Specialist acts as a liaison between all internal departments to coordinate material supply smoothly through the production area to meet stringent deadlines and quality standards, in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.” This employee must be an effective communicator, work well with others in a team environment and possess the ability to multitask efficiently. This position requires you to be meticulous in your work and constantly strive for improvement. 
This position is on-site in Torrance, CA and Carson, CA. 

Essential Functions 

• Assists Production and Supply Chain leadership with the development of part flow strategy. 
• Generates kit orders, miscellaneous parts requests, and delivers parts to the line to enable assigned production line.
• Ensures the smooth build flow required by our production teams to enable master schedule attainment.
• Assist in development of kit staging solutions for assigned areas.
• Works with planners and schedulers to follow up on and expedite open orders.
• Provide kit/part status daily updates and represents material operations in status meetings. 
• Work with production schedulers to ensure work order release is cohesive with kitting operations.
• Performs systematic transactions for consumption of kits/parts through work order completion.
• Expedite parts throughout internal production systems through systematic and physical movement of parts.
• Ensures materials issued meet all homologation and expiration requirements.
• Assist assigned production cell supervision with consumable material management.
• Assist Production and Supply Chain leadership with consumable and tooling management and strategy.

• High school diploma
• Excellent customer service skills 
• Proficient in MS Office, ERP systems, math, and statistics
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in manufacturing and/or technical administration
• Experience in organizing, creating, and maintaining files and documents

• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience in MRP systems including BOM management
• Experience in aerospace or automotive manufacturing
• Prior experience in rapid growth environment
• Prior experience with automotive parts, and hardware

• Team oriented with a strong ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment to multiple deadlines
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently
• Excellent time management with an ability to balance multiple projects and timelines and to meet deadlines
• Effective written and verbal communications skills; ability to express ideas clearly and actively listen to others

• Ability to detect errors and correct through proper procedures and channels
• Proficiency in MS office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Physical Demands/Work Environment 

• Must have ability to speak clearly and distinctly and hear and be heard and understood in person and by telephone
• Must be able to work an early schedule and overtime as needed
• Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the production environment
• Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms; must possess manual dexterity
• Must be able to lift, stand, climb, bend, grasp, sit, pull, push, stoop, stretch, and carry
• Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the required environment
• Must be able to work in a busy/fast paced automotive shop environment
• Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs., infrequent lifting to 50 lbs.
