Logistics Specialist

Position Summary :

Under direct supervision, the Logistics Specialist: is responsible for monitoring the movements and maintaining the inventory of chassis and general items through locations and queues. Maintaining good communication and relationships with outside car transportation vendors and other departments is essential to maintain a good product flow. This individual is experienced in inventory management, MRP transactions, 5S principles, shipping and receiving, and handling of vehicles through stations and trailers. The role requires strong communication skills and collaboration with cross-functional teams to provide visibility and drive action in order to support Singer’s operational goals.

Essential Functions :

• Partners with Shipping and Receiving and Production Scheduling and other overlaying departments to effectively transport chassis and communicate to meet production scheduling forecasts

• Provides clear communication and feedback to internal stakeholders regarding chassis movement status, closed purchase orders, MRP transactions, and any issues that may arise

• Ensures that communication with external car transportation vendor is established and maintained

• Extensive communicational skills, proper MRP transactions, critical thinking with many movements throughout facilities.

• Specializing domestic shipping of chassis and having communication with suppliers and respond to inquiries regarding distribution and shipping.

• Follows the preparation of goods, receiving of shipments, and shipping of orders ensuring that all transactions are properly handled and on schedule.

• Oversee the transportation and storage of products or materials, which often includes administrative tasks

• Knowledge subject matter expert handling basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to leadership

• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Excellent customer service skills

• Minimum two (2) years of experience in inventory control, shipping and/or scheduling

• Proficient in MS Office, ERP systems, math, and statistics

Preferred Education and/or Experience

• Associate degree

• Experience in automotive, restoration, manufacturing and or assembly environment

• Strong computer skills, proficient in the full suite of MS Office, ERP/MRP systems

• Experience with domestic and international shipment execution

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Physical Demands/Work Environment :

• Must be able to work in a seated position for extended periods

• Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms at computer keyboard for extended periods

• Must have ability to speak clearly and distinctly and hear and be heard and understood in person, by telephone and email

• Must be able to work an early, non-standard schedule and long hours when needed

• Must be able to lift, stand, climb, bend, grasp, sit, pull, push, stoop, stretch, and carry

• Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the production environment

• Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs., infrequent lifting to 50 lbs.

• Must be able to travel at times to support production

• Must maintain a valid California Driver’s License with a good driving record and appropriate insurance limits and/or be insurable under the Singer’s company vehicle insurance policy

Compensation:
The starting pay range for this position is between $66,560-75,100 per year. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
