Indirect Buyer
Position Summary
Under direct leadership, the Indirect Buyer will be responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, equipment, and outside services the company needs to complete essential business functions and tracking and accelerating these materials and service requirements to support production of Singer’s vehicles and timely completion of projects. They are responsible for sourcing and qualifying vendors, negotiating pricing, planning purchased material supply, and placing purchase orders to fulfill demand. The goal is to ensure constant availability of non-inventory goods and/or services within the company’s budget in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.”
This is an on-site role in Carson, CA.
Essential Functions
- Procures goods and services for the company.
- Evaluates price, reliability, quality, technical support and availability of goods and services.
- Accountable for ensuring part master data within MRP is accurate
- Works with current suppliers to follow up on and expedite open orders
- Generates purchase requisitions and place Purchase Orders with suppliers, to meet demand
- Accountable for on-time delivery of purchased material at (or below) planned costs
- Negotiates pricing with vendors to reduce total cost
- Manages suppliers for Cost, Quality, and Delivery
- Identifies constraints that may impact production schedules.
- • Reviews purchase orders and shipping documents coordinating with receiving and accounting to ensure accuracy of all details and purchase order closure
- Works in a cross-functional team environment as a strong team player and demonstrates the ability to work with other functional groups to achieve company-wide goals
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and/or Experience
- Associate’s degree in business, finance, purchasing, or other operations field is required
- Proficient in MS Office, ERP systems, math, and statistics
- Minimum of three (3) years of indirect purchasing experience
- Excellent customer service skills
- Bachelor’s degree
- Finance experience a plus.
- Experience in aerospace or automotive manufacturing
- Prior experience in rapid growth environment
- Ability to learn quickly and prioritize appropriately to meet customer and company needs
- Able to balance strong negotiation skills and stakeholder needs to develop relationships with our key suppliers.
- Understands who our customers are, how they are motivated and the current and future business aspects.
- Demonstrates a strong bias toward service, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Strong ability to coach and lead team members within the department
- Effective written and verbal communications skills; ability to express ideas clearly and actively listen to others
- Team oriented, with a strong ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment to multiple deadlines
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently
- Excellent time management with an ability to balance multiple projects and timelines and to meet deadlines
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Must be able to drive and travel for business, including occasional travel by commercial airplane
- Must be able to work in a seated, standing, and/or walking position for extended periods
- Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms at computer keyboard for extended periods
- Must be able to speak clearly and distinctly and hear and be heard and understood in person and by telephone
The starting salary range for this position is between $64,480 - $75,100 per year, plus an annual bonus plan. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
