Sinclair Community College is Hiring an Associate Provost (Internal Only) Near Dayton, OH

The Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs provides leadership to faculty and supports the Provost and Vice Provost on issues related to faculty. On behalf of the Provost, the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs manages faculty recruitment, promotion and tenure, merit awards, sabbatical and professor emeritus processes, and faculty internal and external awards (in connection with the work of the CTL). The Associate Provost is a member of the Provost’s leadership team and is responsible for providing leadership to resolve faculty and staff personnel issues in the division, as well as interfacing with the Title IX officer and personnel in Human Resources. In addition, this role is responsible for the Faculty Performance Review process and Annually Contracted Faculty Review process. The Associate Provost leads the new chair orientation series and serves as a member of Provost Council, Leadership Council, and Instructional Council. In cooperation with the HR Liaison, the Associate Provost manages payload matters and other responsibilities as assigned by the Provost and Vice Provost.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Manage and serve as chair for promotion and tenure processes, merit awards, sabbatical and professor emeritus processes, and faculty internal and external awards (in connection with the work of the CTL Director).
  • Supervise Director of Library, Director of CTL, and Director of Work-Based Learning, which are all areas that directly impact and support faculty.
  • In collaboration with the Provost, facilitate communication with Faculty Senate and Department Chairs Council and manage revisions to the Faculty Handbook.
  • Provide high-level, comprehensive, and confidential advice and assistance to the Provost on academic and administrative issues.
  • Oversee and manage the hiring process of faculty and staff.
  • Work closely with the Provost to develop, revise, implement, and administer Academic Affairs policies, plans and programs.
  • Manage the Faculty Performance Review process and Annually Contracted Faculty Review process.
  • Serve as a member of Provost Council, Leadership Council, Instructional Council, and the Faculty Issues Team (FIT); attend Board of Trustees Meetings, as well as President’s Cabinet, as requested.
  • Assess qualifications of CCP teacher applicants and supervise the faculty accreditation review process to ensure HLC standards are maintained.
  • Interface with the Title IX officer.
  • Research and review policies, practices, and procedures, making recommendations for revisions or new procedures as needed.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and assessment of programs to support the activities of the Provost, including department chair orientations, program reviews, special events for faculty and staff, and campus events.
  • Manage employee relations issues for faculty and staff in Academic Affairs.
  • Manage payload matters, in collaboration with HR and Payroll, including SSA and SSPA processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a master’s degree required but a terminal degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in higher education required, and a deep breadth of experience in teaching and learning is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of higher education leadership experience is preferred. and may include serving as a chair, dean, and/or higher education administrator.
  • Demonstrated leadership in faculty affairs, including supervisory participation in performance evaluations.
  • Evidence of an inclusive leadership style that fosters team building.
  • Demonstrated experience in hiring, developing, and evaluating diverse faculty and staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • References should be provided on request.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be a current employee.
