The Production Control Specialist coordinates and expedites material flow in line with production schedules and customer demands, focusing on purchasing, inventory control, and shipping. This includes issuing purchase orders, monitoring inventory levels, expediting orders as needed, and coordinating shipping activities. They collaborate with department supervisors to track progress and compile reports on work progress, inventory, costs, and process issues. Additionally, they communicate with suppliers and customers, and ensure efficient inventory management. The role primarily entails data entry, record updates, and information management.

Principle Responsibilities

• Distributes production schedules and work orders to departments as needed.

• Reviews production schedules and customer demand, as well as work orders, to determine material requirements and priorities.

• Maintains inventory levels of materials needed for production by reviewing customer demand and conducting daily or weekly inventory counts as needed.

• Coordinates delivery arrangements if necessary.

• Consults with department supervisors to evaluate progress and discuss required adjustments.

• Coordinates with customers and vendors to manage shipping activities and resolve issues promptly.

• Monitors raw material consumption.

• Contacts suppliers to verify shipment details and coordinates transportation as needed.

• Enter data into Excel pertaining to inventories, material receiving, transportation, or purchases.

• Creates purchase orders and coordinates material receiving with vendors.

• Conduct the vendor’s registration as needed.

• Prepare and compile a payment request report for vendor payment approval.

• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, especially Excel.

• Supports layout arrangement on site as needed (line marking).

• Performs other assigned duties as necessary.

• Overtime expected and required on short notice, based on plant operations.

Qualifications

• Degree in related field preferred.

• 2 years of inventory/production control experience in manufacturing.

• Strong mathematical skills, ability to understand and conduct basic arithmetic and statistical operations.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office with preferred Advanced Skills in Excel.

• Ability to analyze data, validating accuracy and correcting errors.

• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and prioritize workload.

• Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

• Attention to detail a must.

• Ability to work independently with little to no supervision and with ambiguity.

Requirements

Work is considered low physical work in an office and production setting, requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must possess strength, stamina, and mobility to perform low physical work indoors with minimum exposure to dust.

Must be able to:

• Walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, and crouch for extended periods of time.

• Regularly required to sit, stand, use hands to handle objects and reach with hands and arms.

• Will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers or standing for hours at a time.

• Some lifting of supplies and materials from time to time and layout marking on the floor.

• Demonstrate the ability to hear and have specific vision abilities to adjust focus, in an environment subject to noise, dust, etc.

• Perform all work safely in a fast-paced work environment.
