Simpson University is Hiring a Director of Student Accounts Near Redding, CA

This director role is responsible for receiving and processing payments to accounts, account deposits, and other various transactions associated with student accounts and Student Accounts Receivables. This is a supervisory role.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Two to three years of proper cash-handling experience in a professional setting.
  • Experience with financial practices and procedures including internal control, basic record-keeping, reconciliation, and depositing of collected funds.
  • Experience in business, bookkeeping, and accounting-related courses.
  • Two years of strong customer service skills within a financial or higher educational setting.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Perform other duties in accordance with this position as deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees management of the Student Accounts communications systems including email, phones, and front desk.
  • Supervises and manages all Student Accounts Office functions including but not limited to billing, payment plan maintenance, third-party billing, student account refunds, financial aid disbursement, payments on student accounts, 1098-T creation and mailing, and reporting.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local, institutional, and other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Collaborates with internal departments such as the Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid Office, Academic Office, Student Development, Athletics Department, Veteran’s Success Center, and Finance Office to ensure accuracy in student account billing.
  • Analyzes accounts to answer questions for students, staff, parents, outside organizations, and Simpson departments.
  • Corrects billing deficiencies, updates yearly tuition pricing in the Student Information System (Colleague), and makes other changes in the SIS to refunds.
  • Coordinates timely collections efforts, implements late fee applications and Account holds, partners with collections agencies to continue collections when necessary.
  • Reconciles the student account receivables to the general ledger and to third-party systems at least once monthly.
  • Maintains, upholds, and updates institutional policies and procedures pertaining to student accounts to keep best standard practices and compliance in Catalog, institutional documentation, website, and handbooks.
  • Develop, lead, and coach a team responsible for all facets of the daily operations of the accounts receivable function for student accounts ensuring compliance with various state and local regulations. This includes but is not limited to Title IV regulations, tax regulations, and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulations such as the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.
  • Trains, supports, and supervises staff in Student Accounts Office.
  • Assist with special projects and reports, and assist auditors as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
