Learn about our company culture directly from our team. YOU As a Warehouse Manager, you will be responsible for managing the warehouse operation. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (of Time) Mentor, develop, motivate, train, and direct shipping leads and shippers by developing effective performance management techniques, including establishing expectations and goals, providing recognition and feedback, and addressing performance problems. Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members and the organization. Consistently exemplify the highest of safety standards and monitor others to the same standards. Ensure that all Simpson policies and procedures are updated and adhered to by all teammates. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback. Have a presence in the warehouse to assist and guide department leads with daily tasks. (40%) Help in developing continuous improvement culture. Establish a robust training/development plan to drive lean program. Measure and report results to Leadership on a regular basis. Partner with other branches and places of knowledge to learn Simpson practices and gain new ideas to put into practice. Design and drive programs to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the department while utilizing PDCA management method to control/drive process improvements. Coordinate the organization of work within the department by leading performance meetings, analyzing of daily department results, collaborating with other departments to resolve issues, correspond with internal and external customers as needed, manage scheduling of personnel to meet demand. Activities are focused on mid to longer term planning needs to the success of the department. (25%) Review and edit employee timecards. Approve and deny employee time off requests. Drive improvements that will help reduce warehouse costs and improve customer service. Analyze data, such as SAP productivity reports, errors, and schedules, daily and make recommendations for improvement accordingly. Ensure critical functions are maintained such as, but not limited to: PGIs completed, proper cycle counts, batch management, and audits of orders. Create reports, spreadsheets and presentations. (10%) Manage and develop the warehouse layout to align to current volumes creating optimal flow. Facilitate warehouse clean up, ensuring a safe clean environment at all times. Develop and oversee pre and post physical inventory processes in Shipping (10%) Oversee transportation processes of outbound shipments and documents while ensuring that we are operating within compliance with DOT and International regulations. (5%) Maintain employee training and relevant files and records, including hire, fire, discipline, training and timecards. Write up and be responsible for QM’s (Quality management). Evaluate employee performance, monitor errors and conduct evaluations of employees as needed. (5%) Additional projects and responsibilities assigned as needed. (5%) DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE If you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too: Bachelor Degree (B.A./B.S.) preferred Minimum 3-5 years of experience in warehouse and logistics required. Managing others (minimum of 3-5 years required). Demonstrates application of supply chain knowledge to management of department (minimum of 2 years preferred). Demonstrates application of Lean manufacturing concepts to management of department (1- 2 years preferred). Demonstrates the ability to effectively mentor and develop team (3-5 years required). The ability to effectively use Word, Excel, and Outlook to carry out work (intermediate level). Problem Solving: Experience in quantitative analysis by using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of solution options to problems required. Mentoring and coaching: The ability to monitor/assess your own performance and others’ to make improvements or take corrective action. Communication: Ability to select appropriate and effective listening responses and use language that is appropriate to the audience, occasion and purpose. Creative and Innovative Thinking: Ability to try new approaches when problem solving or seeking ideas and exhibit creativity and innovation when contributing to organizational and individual objectives. Decision Making: Ability to balance analysis, wisdom, experience and perspective when making decisions. Adaptability: Ability to respond positively to change, embracing and using new practices or values to accomplish goals and solve problems. Customer Focus: Ability to readily readjust priorities to respond to pressing and changing client demands and quickly and effectively solve customer problems. Results Focus and Initiative: Ability to take initiative in a challenging, fast-paced environment and set high goals and work hard to achieve them. Leadership: Ability to set clear, meaningful, challenging and attainable goals. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment and needs to constantly position self to maintain the operation of equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment. WORK ENVIRONMENT Regularly works around moving mechanical parts. Noise level is loud. The job may risk exposure to dust, heat and or cold, wet or humid conditions. WORK STATUS & LOCATION This is a full-time, exempt level position located in Riverside, CA. RELOCATION Relocation is not available for this position.
