THE SALVATION ARMY CENTRAL TERRITORY is Hiring a Payroll Specialist Near Saint Louis, MO

Job Description
The Salvation Army Midland Divisional Headquarters is looking to hire a Payroll Specialist for an opening on our HR team. The right candidate will be someone who is very detail-oriented, possesses a high level of integrity, and is able to handle very confidential information.
This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position with a starting pay between $20.00 and $23.00 an hour depending on education and experience.

Essential Functions
  • Compiles payroll data for processing and performs bi-weekly transfer of payroll data to payroll provider.
  • Polls time in payroll system and reviews the employees' information for completeness and accuracy for entire division. Contacts various department supervisors for missed hours or punches. Serves as backup for time record approvals for DHQ departments as requested or when necessary.
  • Creates and enters bi-weekly pay batches for special adjustments as needed for each payroll cycle.
  • Calculates manual checks for finance to cut live checks on as needed basis.
  • Creates and distributes bi-weekly payroll reports to finance for entire division.
  • Generates reports as requested for HR, Finance, Officers, Corps, and Department Heads.
  • Coordinates with locations when direct deposit rejections are received.
  • Investigates and resolves problems related to payroll.
  • Enters and processes garnishments and child support orders in payroll system for all employees. Communicates with employees and payroll provider, as required.
  • Enter employee change of statuses in payroll system.

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least two years payroll processing experience.
  • ADP Vantage payroll system experience a plus, but not required.
  • Must be detail oriented and have excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively. Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent data entry skills.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Requires strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, internet, and email.
  • Familiar with payroll and timekeeping software.
  • Knowledge of payroll procedures and local regulations.
