Simon Eye Associates is Hiring an Optical manager Near Wilmington, DE

Simon Eye and Center for Advanced Eye Care are partner practices with a combined 27 Optometrists, 8 Ophthalmologists, and 150 staff serving patients across the state of Delaware and in Pennsylvania with locations in West Chester and Bucks County.

The Optical Lab Manager oversees the operation of the lab and ensures quality and service standards are met. As an *Optical Lab Manager*, you will be responsible for the overall flow of the internal optical lab to assist in keeping the practice running smoothly.

  • What you'll do : *
  • Maintain the lab area and equipment in a safe and organized manner.
  • Manage the lab team to meet all production goals and objectives.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly lab equipment maintenance as scheduled and in accordance with lab / equipment manual specifications.
  • Identify and solve problems and facilitate problem solving among the team.
  • Prioritize workload to meet changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Correctly read and interpret prescription specifications and input into computer properly to ensure lenses are cut properly.
  • Maintain acceptable levels of workmanship and quality (pass most final inspections) of all finished jobs coming out of the lab.
  • Consistently adhere to hourly deadlines for finishing jobs
  • Maintain the lens inventory to ensure with proper stocked items with high use products for fast turn-around times.
  • Work closely with Optical Manager and CFO to keep SEA current re : equipment, technology, techniques, materials, pricing, etc.
  • Supervision of lab staff, workflow, and ensure organized lab environment.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of lab initiatives such as VSP In-office finishing and other like programs or pilots.
  • Maintain error / usage logs to identify quality issues and follow up with optical staff for continued training.
  • Maintain lab metrics such as run rates, product types, etc. to evaluate and improve lab performance.
  • Assist Optical Manager in fostering an environment of training and development within the Optical department.
  • Attend work regularly according to assigned work schedule and in accordance with Simon Eye policy.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.
  • What you'll need : *
  • At least 2 years of optical experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • ABO Certification (or must be eligible to test and / or recertify)
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to multitask and be flexible regarding workload and assignments.
  • Ability to exercise judgment.
  • Ability to provide effective management skills with an ability to plan and implement systems that are outcome oriented and ensure quality service delivery.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in technology applications.
  • Must be able to demonstrate integrity and ethical standards in job performance.
  • Ability to provide guidance, direction and technical support to staff.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should demonstrate in-depth knowledge and understanding of and experience with Simon Eye operational areas, systems, and processes.

They should also be familiar with the Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

This position may be required to travel to other Simon Eye locations during the business day. Job requires periodic site visits to any / all Simon Eye locations.
