JOB SUMMARY
The Admission Counselor is responsible for the recruitment and counseling of undergraduate students. They are expected to travel to regional and national recruitment events, interview prospective students and meet with their families, and evaluate several hundred applications per year. Additional responsibilities and projects will be assigned as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The admission counselor will manage a territory. They will recruit, evaluate and counsel first year, transfer, and/or adult students from the prospect stage through their enrollment;
Develop communications and contact students, families, and counselors to motivate and assist students in moving through all points in the admission funnel;
Identify the key priorities and needs of individual students and their family and use appropriate communications to influence their decision to enroll;
Within each population, the admission counselor will identify and develop new opportunities and entry points in the prospect funnel with the goal of meeting institutional enrollment priorities;
Plans travel and events within their assigned territory, including strategizing what schools to visit and events to attend and maintaining positive relationships with college counselors, consultants, and community organizations;
Primary application reviewer for their recruitment territory and will assist others in their review as needed, including assisting in review for online programs. This will include extensive file reading, evaluation, and the recommendation of decisions; approximately 550-650 files per year.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in all on-campus recruitment events, as well as those hosted off-campus when appropriate
Specific geographic territory and/or populations will be assigned to the admission counselor yearly and may be changed at the discretion of the management team.
Additional projects within the Office of Undergraduate Admission relating to events, committees, or other projects and other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Proficient in Word processing, Spreadsheets, like Microsoft Word & Excel
Ability to confidently deliver engaging and informative oral presentations to diverse audiences
Ability to travel: This position requires extensive travel to college fairs, community colleges, and high school visits to speak with prospective students, their parents, and college counselors
Valid driver's license required, and ability to rent a car for travel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree
Fluency in one or more of the most common languages other than English in our applicant pool is preferred (Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Mandarin, and Haitian Creole);
Experience in Higher education, and/or an admission setting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is a full-time, 40 hours a week, 12 month position
Required to be on campus during core days/hours of Monday - Friday. Work location may be flexible under some circumstances;
This position is required to be present at all on-campus admission events (a minimum of 5 Saturdays per year).
Counselors will also attend college fairs and events in the assigned territory, typically 10-20 weekend/holiday days per year and 3-4 nights per week during travel months, and requires significant hours beyond the established work week during the file reading season;
Counselors will travel approximately 10-12 weeks in the fall and 4-6 weeks in the spring and summer. Travel may be virtual, regional, or national, and is not restricted to the established territory of the counselor;
Physical Effort in the job, position requires the physical capability to perform: heavy lifting, carrying, extensive standing, walking, etc.
