The purpose of this position is to assist the batcher operator in the production of feed.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains feedmill machinery to ensure quality. Assists the operator in the control room when needed. Fills the micro bins as needed.
Make sure all micro bins are full at the end of your shift. Ensures the micro bin lids are labeled correctly and on at all times unless filling.
Sends up and places full pallets of micro ingredients on the third floor in a neat and orderly manner. Maintains a suitable level of ingredients for the next shift.
At least 1 full layer.)
Checks the oil level in all three pellet mills at least once per shift and logs the time and any actions taken on the down time sheet.
Changes grease barrels on the auto lube system as needed. Check the mash leg magnet as stated in the magnet check schedule.
Constantly monitor all bins, drags, pellet mills, and all other equipment for leaks or other problems. Check cyclones at least 4 times per shift, fill out a cyclone log sheet.
Monitor the enzyme totes and change when needed.
Completes paperwork and housekeeping. Completes the proper paperwork involved with bagged ingredients. Ensures that all empty micro ingredient bags, pallets, empty barrels, and other trash are placed neatly on a pallet and sent down to the warehouse at the end of the shift.
Monitor dust from the cyclones regularly during your shift. Maintains a clean work environment in the entire area throughout the day.
Completes weekly blow down as stated in the weekly blowdown schedule. Dumps product whenever it gets above 60 feet from top.
Ensure the orange wagon is empty at the end of your shift. Help operate the pellet mills and batching system when needed.
Helps with shuttle unloading (during your shift) during the week.
e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives : Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies);
understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives : This position description is intended to guide the activities of the Operator helper and is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the person to the work of this function nor is it intended that this describe all the work that may be required of the person in this position.
Physical Activities : Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print.
Must be able to lift and move up to 55 pounds from any level. Must be able to work in temperature extremes and in an outdoor environment, on feet for the entire shift.
Must be able to work in a dusty environment. Will also be climbing ladders throughout the shift.
Travel : NA
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) : Will use appropriate footwear, hearing protection and other protective equipment as needed or required.
Technical Experience : Must be able to pass a company issued forklift written and driving test if needed.
Industry Experience : Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
Minimum Education : Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken. Forklift certification.
Preferred Education : High School Diploma or GED.
