Child Development Specialist Needed- New Bern Area

IMMEDIATE OPENINGS

Simmons Early Intervention Therapy (SEIT) is a well-established pediatric therapy company that provides services for young children. SEIT services help young children grow and develop while supporting their families in caring for them. Our mission to put the child FIRST has led to a strong relationship with various community partners and we are looking for more Child Development Specialists to join our team!

The Child Development Specialist works with children ages birth to 5 years old to assist with delays in development. Specialists at Simmons Early Intervention Therapy work with the child in his/her natural environment providing activities that incorporate “play” with skill-building to enable the child to achieve goals. Our development specialist use child development knowledge to help the child learn and grow so they are more on target with childhood developmental milestones.

Requirements of the job include:

-Must have experience working with young children 0-5 years with behavioral concerns and or challenges

- Specialist will assist children with accomplishing goals that may address language delays, fine/gross motor delays, social-emotional problems, behaviors, etc.

- Responsible for developing creative play to accomplish the goals outlined in the child’s goal plan

- Will work with the parents/guardians to to provide techniques to assist child

- Specialist provide services to children in their natural environment which may include the home, day care center, park, outings, etc.

- Specialist will need to have a lively and playful personality to continuously engage the child throughout the session.

Qualifications:

- Applicants must have a Bachelors Degree or higher in Birth-Kindergarten Education, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Child and Family Studies, Counseling, Human Development, Family Relations, Family Studies, Family and Consumer Sciences, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work.

- Must have experience working with young children 0-5 years with behavioral challenges

- Experience with special needs population is a plus!

- We are looking for a team player who has a passion for helping children with special needs and go-getter attitude.

- Must be dependable, independent, organized, good communication skills, and caring.

Position is a contracted position with 30 to 50 hours per week.

- Must be available to work day shift hours between 8AM-4 PM.

BEHAVIORAL EXPERIENCE WITH YOUNG CHILDREN IS REQUIRED!

AUTISM DISORDER EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS!
