JOB TITLE: Part-Time Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Instructor Simi Institute for Careers & Education

SALARY RANGE: $35.84 to $44.47 part-time California Certificated Teacher Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience.

GENERAL

Instructors teach topics in our EMT programs: evening/weekend (20 weeks, T/Th 6-9pm, 2 Sat/month 8am-4pm) and accelerated daytime (6 weeks, M/T/W 8am-6pm, F 8am-4:30pm, Sat 8am-4pm). EMT courses run twice yearly (Fall, Spring) and accelerated courses run thrice yearly (Fall, Spring, Summer). Completing the course earns students a certificate for National Registry EMT Cognitive Exam eligibility.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plans & organizes instruction according to SICE’s approved course outlines & student learning outcomes to maximize student learning in alignment with program goals.
• Provides academic instruction to students through lecture and demonstrations; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking skills among students through appropriate assignments and activities.
• Maintains current, accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, student academic progress, course curriculum, and student learning outcomes.
• Observes and evaluates student performance in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations; provide feedback in a timely manner to student inquiries in class or online.
• Advises and instructs students regarding the program of study, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills; refer students to support services as appropriate.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills for classroom management and basic computer skills.
• Follows and enforces all district, school, and department policies and procedures.
• Works collaboratively with department staff, school administration, and program partners.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Be a California certified EMT, Advanced EMT, California licensed Physician, Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, or Paramedic AND
• 1 year(s) of relevant work experience on an ambulance or in emergency care, trauma, or critical care AND • Hold a current California Teaching Credential listed below:
• Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Teaching Credential: Public Services OR
• Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Teaching Credential: Health Science & Medical Technology OR
• Eligibility for a preliminary CTE credential includes outline on CTC Website https://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/leaflets/designated-subjects-(cl-888)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Hold an AA Degree or higher
• 5 years of relevant work experience
• 1 year teaching experience
