Senior Admissions Coordinator

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Conducts clinical screens for potential patients seeking care at SHH; complete screens efficiently and in accordance with census targets as defined by SHH leadership.
• Ensures that exceptional customer service is provided through telephone and face-to-face communications.
• Obtains accurate information from patients requiring evaluation at the Silver Hill Hospital.
• Coordinates with Director of Admissions and Operations Manager regarding evaluation availability and scheduling of new patients.
• Collaborates with utilization review regarding insurance coverage, both initial and ongoing.
• Obtains insurance information for verification of benefits prior to the patient’s arrival.
• Coordinates the involuntary admission of patients evaluated in the Admissions Department when necessary.
• Assists as required in performing client assessments in the Admissions Department for emergency and unscheduled patients.
• Facilitates the transfer of patients to Silver Hill Hospital from other facilities.
• Maintains standards of confidentiality and demonstrates regard for the dignity and respect of all patients, their families, guests and representatives of other organizations, as well as fellow employees, volunteers and medical staff in support of the Silver Hill Hospital’s mission to provide consistent quality healthcare services in a professional, caring and responsive environment.
• Works independently and assists junior staff with consultation and support with difficult cases.
• Supports outstanding customer service and the performance improvement goals of the department.
• Collaborates with other caregivers/staff, within and outside the Department, to develop and implement plans to enhance patient care and service.
• Works on a rotating call schedule with Admissions Leadership, as needed.
• Manages cases with advanced and/or complex needs, referral sources or high profile involvement.
• Works as a team with other Senior Admissions Coordinators to cover specific programs as needed.
• Assists in the evaluating, assessing and disposition planning of patients seeking treatment in the New Canaan Urgent Assessment Program.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education
Master Degree in mental health or a related field 

Certifications
CPR certification required after hire and before assignment to patient care area 

Specialized knowledge
Experience working in mental health setting
Demonstrates competency in assessing adolescents (ages 13-18) and adults (18 ).
Demonstrates competency on suicide risk assessments and crisis intervention.

Skills 
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office applications)
Experience with electronic medical records, preferred

Experience
Five years experience in a behavioral health care setting and admissions position, with significant administrative and organizational experience and training.
