This is a Per Requested Need Seasonal Position beginning now and ending 12/30/2024.

Summary: 

At Silver Dollar City Company, we create memories worth repeating. We are seeking a Safety and Security Entry Screening Officer for Silver Dollar City Attractions who will embody the heart and soul of our mission of creating memories worth repeating while caring deeply about our brand. The right Property Entry Screening Officer will include equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator.

Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Being generally friendly and caring.
  • Greet all Guests in a friendly and professional manner
  • Controlling park access at Host, Guest, and Service entrances.
  • Searching bags by visual and/or mechanical device.
  • Must be able to work adjacent to and properly operate electronic Metal Detection Units, Handheld wands, and electronic threat detection systems.
  • Must be able to scan Guests and deal professionally with any Guest that may need additional screening or has prohibited items in their possession.
  • Must be able to provide professional Guest Services such as giving directions, answering questions, interacting with friendly conversation, and representing the Company in a positive, family-friendly manner.
  • Be observant of any potentially suspicious activity and report the same to an armed Security officer, Supervisor, or Law Enforcement officer.
  • Must be able to work at multiple positions and assignments as the Company needs changes with rapid increases or decreases in the attendance flow.
  • Must be able to work outside, standing for an extended time, in all weather conditions.
  • Taking possession of lost property and returning same to Lost & Found.

Physical Demands:

  • Continuously (more than 2/3 of the time) be standing, walking, climbing, bending, and driving. The host will also continuously write and type information involving finger movements, repetitive hand use, normal sensation/feeling, gripping, and moving items such as coolers and bags of various sizes and weights. Hosts will also continuously need to see near and far and utilize depth perception and color vision while giving clear instructions and communicating with fellow hosts and guests at a conversation level and high acuity. The host will continuously be working with others or working alone, depending on the location assigned.
  • Frequently (between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time) throw, lift, carry, push, or pull various items, including but not limited to bags, strollers, and wheelchairs of varying weights, not to exceed 215 pounds, with an average weight ranging from 30 to 60 pounds. The host will also frequently deal with jarring, twisting, and reaching and lifting from above the shoulder to floor level.
  • Occasionally (less than 1/3 of the time), sit or push using a mechanical wheelchair, repetitive motions such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and writing. The host will occasionally work in confined spaces, on elevated heights, and use detergents or chemicals, such as multipurpose sanitizers, with mechanical hazards, moving objects, and vibrations. The host will occasionally be around fumes/odors, dust, mists, and gases. The host will occasionally utilize respirator protection and eye and hearing protection. The host occasionally comes into contact with items that could be considered explosive during the entrance screening process. These items may include but are not limited to a firearm, taser, or ammunition.

Communications:

Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with guests and employees in person, by radio, telephone, and in writing, all in a manner consistent with Silver Dollar City Attractions' values. Ability to accurately and informatively enforce park screening rules and general instructions. Actively greet, listen, and clarify any park security rules that guests or hosts may have. Respond appropriately to questions and constructive criticism. Ability to make all demographic groups feel relaxed and at ease while participating in the screening process.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to remember locations and work-required procedures. Understand, remember, and carry out very short and simple instructions. Understand, remember, and carry out detailed instructions. Maintain attention and concentration for extended periods. To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to navigate a tablet-based system—the ability to solve problems and anticipate guests' and hosts' needs through the entrance screening process.

Computer Skills:

Familiarity with a tablet-based operating system and ability to quickly navigate and rapidly categorize items utilizing the tablet.

Personality / Attitude Requirements:

Always observes safety and security procedures, reports potentially unsafe conditions, and properly utilizes equipment and materials. Ability to interact with customers and hosts in a genuinely friendly, respectful, and caring manner while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. Must uphold the Mission and Values of Silver Dollar City Company; Promote a harassment-free environment; Team oriented, self-motivated, self-supervising, and maintain positive interdivisional working relationships. Completes tasks on time or notifies the appropriate person with an alternate plan; ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and evenings. Arrives on time for work and demonstrates good time management skills. Maintain a well-groomed and professional appearance in accordance with uniform standards.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the host is frequently exposed to environmental changes, including extreme heat, extreme cold, wet, humid, and dry conditions. Work near moving mechanical parts, at heights, around dust, mists, gases, chemicals, and vibration. Use of Personal Protective Equipment is required for this position. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Education / Certificates and Licenses:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Must possess a valid form of identification. Class E Missouri driver’s license or resident state equivalent is preferred but not required for this position.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have the ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior Law Enforcement or Security related experience. POST certification is preferred but not required for this position.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is preferred but not required for this position.
