Destination: Home, a 501(c)3 supporting organization of Silicon Valley Community Foundation is a public-private partnership serving as the backbone organization for collective impact strategies to end homelessness in Santa Clara County. Destination: Home drives and aligns resources to create permanent housing and sustainable support systems built for the long term. The organization is improving how systems work together to end homelessness, as well as protect individuals and families at risk of becoming homeless. To advance its mission to end homelessness, Destination: Home works to advance smart and impactful public policies and initiate strategic communications in support of its work.
Thanks to the generous support of key partners, Destination: Home has a unique opportunity to utilize private philanthropic capital to increase the supply of supportive and extremely low income housing for vulnerable populations by funding development and exploring new development financing strategies, construction methods and housing types. Destination: Home is currently seeking a Senior Director of Housing Initiatives to oversee this area of work.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a full-time exempt level position in San Jose, California.

REPORTING AND RELATIONSHIPS
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Senior Director of Housing Initiatives will be a highly visible and community-facing professional who will seek financial and development partnerships with affordable housing developers and public and quasi-public agencies throughout Santa Clara County.
JOB SUMMARY
The Director will manage a housing portfolio that will include funding requests, disbursements, compliance and other work related to supportive housing production and development. With these duties, the Director will also have the opportunity to engage in and implement innovative investments to increase the production of supportive housing locally.
The Director should be generally familiar with the process related to the development of new multi-family affordable housing. In this role, the Director will identify investment opportunities both independently and in conjunction with housing developers and then evaluate the suitability of the opportunity and its likelihood to quickly produce new supportive housing units. Upon evaluation and with guidance from the Board and senior staff, the Director will then be responsible for ensuring the funds are invested in the opportunities most likely to yield the greatest number of new supportive and extremely low income housing units in the least amount of time. In addition to these duties, the Director will also be responsible for providing support to new and existing developer partners to ensure the community engagement of each housing development is thorough, well thought out and effective in moving projects forward.
The Director will lead in the development of innovation initiatives that may result in new investment vehicles, different types of housing for extremely low income populations and a variety of other system improvements that will lead to a greater number of high quality housing opportunities for the community.

The ideal candidate will have a proactive mindset as it relates to acquisition and investment partnerships and be comfortable in the brokerage and development community.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
SVCF is committed to offering competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits. The target hiring range for this position is $225,000 to $235,000 per year based on experience, credentials and internal salary equity.
