POSITION SUMMARY:  

The First America Homes Summer internship program, Real Estate U, was created to give students and graduates the opportunity to learn from various parts of the company and real estate industry. Real Estate U consists of Marketing, Human Resources, Accounting, IT, Construction, and Land Development departments. Our interns will gain hands-on experience in various department functions and contribute to the overall success of our organization. The program may include special projects, mentorship, professional development, and networking opportunities. At the conclusion of the program, the Summer Intern program participants will present their analysis and make real-time recommendations to department leadership to help drive and grow the business.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Assist in preparing information and research materials; create and maintain PowerPoint presentations as needed.
• Conduct field visits with Area Construction Managers and assist construction crew on site.
• Shadow multiple construction positions and train in a variety of tasks
• Attend company functions and network with internal and external stakeholders.
• Performs other projects and related duties as assigned.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

• A Senior level student majoring in Construction Science, Construction Management, or a similar study.
• Able to produce end of program project with items learned throughout the summer.
• Ability to network, present presentation on information learned during program, and support the Construction team in citywide projects. 
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and remain motivated and positive.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with Construction department and team members.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Must be local to Houston and reliable transportation to get to work sites
• Able to work full time Monday through Friday with First America Homes Construction staff
