Position Summary : Responsible for assisting patients in retail optical purchases, adjustment and repairs. Conducts optical sales assisting patients with frame and lens selection, fitting and adjusting. This position is traveling 3 days a week to our other NJ locations.

Job Duties & Essential Functions:

  • Assists patients in a timely fashion with frame selection and of lens choices.
  • Makes all frame adjustments and repairs as necessary.
  • Opens and closes optical department as scheduled.
  • Posts all sales and balances monies daily.
  • Maintains inventory, both posting and physical.
  • Does contact lens teaches and orders contact lenses.
  • Prepares orders, paperwork etc. in such a fashion that results in accurate orders, no remakes and satisfied patients.
  • Offers patients information on contact lenses, lenses, coatings, sunglasses, multiple pair discounts, etc.
  • Reviews warranties, return policies, etc. with patient.
  • Adjusts frames and does frame repairs to patient satisfaction.
  • Obtain prior authorizations for hardware when they have not already been obtained.
  • Stays current of optical plans being offered in the area.
  • As scheduled makes sure optical department is opened on time and closed after all patients are completed.
  • Posts sales daily and in a complete manner. All monies to be balanced daily and given to Accounts Payable for deposit.
  • Participates in physical inventories.
  • Conforms to all RMEC policies and procedures including punctuality, attendance and dress codes.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in job assignment.
  • Takes pride and ownership in success and image of R.M.E.C.
  • Demonstrates initiative in accomplishing practice goals.


Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • A.B.O. certification required.
  • Position requires accuracy, thoroughness and willingness to assist co-workers.
  • Desire to further knowledge by attending continuing education seminars and optical conventions.
  • A willingness and desire to learn by instruction from Optical Manager, co-workers, and physicians.
  • Ability to communicate well with patients, co-workers and physicians.
