Holiday Inn Express Waikīkī Beach is seeking a Full-Time Breakfast Supervisor to join our team! Our ideal candidate for this position is thorough, flexible, and dedicated to exceptional guest service. The Holiday Inn Express Waikīkī is located at the gateway of Waikīkī in Honolulu. This 44-storey hotel with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, Koʻolau mountains, and Waikīkī skyline is just 3 blocks from Waikīkī Beach and 4 blocks from the Hawaii Convention CenterSan Francisco-based Sightline Hospitality, LLC is a hotel management company with a portfolio of Full-service, Limited Service, and Boutique hotels across the United States, including Hawaii. Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist Food & Beverage Director with managing day-to-day operations and assignments of food and beverage staff, communicate goals, and assign/prioritize work. Communicate and enforce policies and procedures with all staff.
  • Assist Food & Beverage Director with maintaining standards of food and beverage quality and guest service quality, as established by system operations and regional management.
  • Assist Food & Beverage Director with controlling food and non-food items for the breakfast line and lobby market; obtain price quotes and determine best value for purchase cost as needed or directed. Follow up with vendors as needed to facilitate timely delivery and resolve issues.
  • Assist Food & Beverage Director with overseeing execution of departmental inventories and following purchasing guidelines.
  • Assist Food & Beverage Director with training staff on all SOPs to ensure there is understanding and compliance, including cross-training, as directed.
  • Assist Food & Beverage Director with monitoring timekeeping logs to specifications.
  • Assist Food & Beverage Director with monitoring service and quality standards.
  • Assist Food & Beverage Director with understanding and responding to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner. Make appropriate service recovery gestures according to established guidelines in order to ensure total guest satisfaction.
  • Interact with outside contacts:
    • Guests – to ensure their total satisfaction
    • Vendors – to ensure adequate inventory of supplies and equipment, to discuss service issues, to resolve any vendor performance issues, etc.
  • Train and schedule employees to ensure proper coverage. Monitor performance and inform management of recommended corrective action. Immediately alert management of potentially serious issues.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. 
  • May routinely greet guests, serve food and beverage, and take reservations and maintain reservations book if applicable.
  • Inspect restaurant daily to ensure high quality food and food presentation and cleanliness.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to inform staff of daily events. Review daily specials.
  • Ensure side work duties are complete and tables are set before, during and after operating hours
  • To promote and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • To immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions.
  • To maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times.
  • Focus on safety and the following of safe work practices by yourself and those under your direction. Including compliance with company safety standards, and state and local regulations that pertain to your department.
  • To attend all mandatory meetings as directed.
  • To perform other tasks as assigned.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Essential Experience/Aptitudes:
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and two-years food service experience in a full-service restaurant or similar setting. Some college or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiar with OSHA, SB198, local Department of Health regulations, state liquor laws and relevant current laws governing handling of hazardous substance.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of all aspects of restaurant and bar operations, and have an overall knowledge of foods and beverages, and service standards and procedures. 
  • Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency.
  • Must be computer literate with a knowledge of Word and Excel.

  • Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with customers and employees
  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when completing paperwork, scheduling, and giving and receiving instructions.
  • Mathematical skills, including basic math, cash handling, are utilized frequently.
  • Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities are used often.
  • Demonstrated ability to train staff and ensure high standards of customer service.
  • Possess a courteous, friendly and professional manner. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good team player.
  • Ability to effectively manage staff to maintain a high level of morale and productivity.
  • Must be organized, efficient and meet high quality standards for service.
Essential Physical Abilities:
  • Occasionally required to handle and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. over short distances. 
  • Must be able to work well under pressure. 
  • Flexibility required to work long, sometimes irregular hours.
  • Working environment may be moist, warm and odorous from cooking foods.
  • Kitchen floor may be slippery from moisture and grease.
