Senior Scientist, In vivo PharmacologyNew Haven, CT (Full time, on-site)Siduma Therapeutics, founded by innovator Dr. Craig Crews, is leveraging extensive heterobifunctional small molecule expertise to build a new, disruptive therapeutic platform targeting disease causing proteins. Qualified candidates seeking a highly mission-driven and collaborative culture along with cutting edge science are encouraged to apply for this role reporting to the Vice President of Biology.Roles and Responsibilities of the position
  • Planning, design, and development of animal models and detailed protocols to test PK, pharmacodynamic effects and efficacy of therapeutic agents in wild type and humanized mouse models.
  • Identify and/or develop clinically-relevant mouse models of target indications.
  • Ordering mice from CROs to conduct the studies at a local vivarium as per institutional guidelines and ship the plasma samples for bioanalysis to external CROs.
  • Prepare drug solutions, multiple route drug administration (SC, IP, PO, IV), tumor cell inoculation, anesthesia, blood samplings, tissue or tumor collections, animal health monitoring, necropsies, xenograft studies, syngeneic and humanized mouse models.
  • Perform retro-orbital, submandibular, tail vein and cardiac puncture bleeds.
  • Process blood and tissues for pharmacodynamic biomarkers and toxicological studies.
  • Understands and adheres to IACUC protocols regarding animal welfare and handling.
  • Commits to scientific rigor, high data quality, and careful documentation.
  • Presents research findings and summary data to project teams and senior leadership team.
  • Maintain records (including study protocols, procedures, data reports, and related documentation) and prepare reports for IND filings.
  • Mentor, train, and professionally develop research associates in the future.
Qualifications
  • MS degree in biological sciences with 4-5 years of experience or PhD degree in biological sciences with 2-3 years of experience in an academic facility or biotech or pharmaceutical industry
  • Deep knowledge of mouse models of cancer or immunology and inflammation. Proficiency in establishing in vivo PK/PD and efficacy models.
  • Technical expertise in in vivo pharmacology approaches including animal handling & monitoring, tissue or tumor collections, biospecimen preparation and storage.
  • Surgical skills in rodents with more than one therapeutic area are desirable.
  • Experience in preparing in vivo pharmacology data packages in support of DC nominations.
  • Experience in managing external CROs and collaborations.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and time management skills
