Job Overview:
We are seeking a versatile and experienced individual to fill the dual role of Medical Assistant and Front Office Coordinator. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and a passion for delivering excellent patient care. This role involves providing clinical support to healthcare professionals while also managing front office duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and checking patients in and out. The successful candidate will be a crucial link between providers and patients, ensuring smooth operations and a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities:

Clinical Support:

  • Assist healthcare professionals with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Prepare examination rooms by ensuring cleanliness, stocking necessary supplies, and sterilizing equipment.
  • Record patient medical histories, vital signs, and other pertinent information accurately.
  • Administer medications and vaccines under the direction of healthcare providers.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests such as blood draws and urinalysis.
  • Provide patient education on medication, treatment plans, and preventive care.

Front Office Coordination:

  • Greet patients and visitors with a welcoming demeanor and ensure their comfort while waiting.
  • Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and manage appointment reminders.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and collect necessary co-payments or fees.
  • Maintain electronic health records (EHR) accurately and ensure patient information is up-to-date.
  • Coordinate referrals to specialists and ensure necessary documentation is completed.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including faxes and emails, in a timely manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front office area.

Administrative Support:

  • Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing office supplies inventory.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless patient care coordination.
  • Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant program preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
  • Proven experience working in a medical office setting, preferably in a dual role involving clinical and administrative responsibilities.
  • Experience with phlebotomy is required.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • Empathy, compassion, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.

Work Environment:
This position operates in a fast-paced medical office environment. The individual will be required to stand for extended periods, lift and move objects weighing up to 20 pounds, and perform tasks that require manual dexterity. The ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure is essential.

Employment Type:
Full-time or part-time, depending on the needs of the practice.
