The Inventory Specialist works to ensure appropriate quality standards are upheld by preferred suppliers and is responsible to work with internal stakeholders to optimize inventory levels that satisfy production needs while keeping costs low. In this position, production jobs will be managed and it will be a primary responsibility to root cause problem solve any inventory issues that arise. 1 REPORTING Materials Manager 2 ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 2.1 Inventory Control Enter data for quantities of parts issued, cycle count adjustments and inventory adjustments into the appropriate enterprise resource planning system Close shop packets received Receive and issue finished goods into ERP system Prepare weekly reports for cycle count and pick-lists for weekly counts Issue material and maintain record integrity for production and cost analysis 2.2 Supplier Quality Lead containment actions during supplier problem identification and resolution. Work with Sourcing Managers to issue, review, accept/reject and validate supplier corrective actions. Utilize basic quality tools along with six sigma and lean manufacturing techniques in the support of root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions Interface with engineering and manufacturing to investigate reported external quality issues that are believed to be purchased part or product driven Facilitate the execution of the supplier deviation request process Develop and implement methods to track quality issues and root cause resolutions Assist in disposition of material returned from customers to accurately direct internal/external corrective action Initiate rejects from internal and customer returned parts back to suppliers Assist suppliers in developing strategic quality improvement plans Review supplier manufacturing processes, collaborate with suppliers on process improvements and value enhancement opportunities Drive proactive continuous improvement efforts with suppliers Lead the execution of supplier development activities to improve performance Support sourcing managers in the regular reviews of performance with strategic suppliers Ensure metrics for supplier quality are developed, maintained and review to promote continued and/or sustained success 2.3 Scheduling Manage proper flow of production orders on shop floor to accurately and efficiently support through-put an costing process Coordinate material picking process to support production schedule attainment Schedule the manufacture of all finished goods and work in process material in accordance with product forecasts, customer demands, inventory safety stock levels and demand inventory levels. 3 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 3.1 Education Bachelor's degree or work experience equivalent 3.2 Experience Preferred 5- years’ experience working with inventory management, warehouse management and/or quality inspection 3.3 Technical Skills Proficient in MS Office and experience with an MRP system Ability to read blueprints Mathematical aptitude Familiarity and experience with quality assurance philosophies, practices and techniques Understanding and experience with LEAN philosophies and tools including material pull systems 3.4 Behavioral Attributes Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision. .Ability to develop strong relationships Results driven High levels of integrity Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and vendors. 4 TRAVEL This position requires minimal travel, less than 25%.
