Shu Ren International School (Pre-K–8th grade) inspires a love of learning through an inquiry-based, Mandarin immersion program that prepares students to thrive in an evolving global society. Founded in Berkeley, California in 2008, Shu Ren recently opened a second campus in San Jose, California. Our accreditation by WASC and authorization by the International Baccalaureate (IB), demonstrates our commitment to a high-quality education for all of our learners. We focus on three critical components: Inquiry-based learning, multilingual and multicultural education, and development of the whole child, which we believe are essential to navigate an increasingly complex world.

YOUR ROLE AS THE PYP COORDINATOR

The PYP Coordinator oversees the development of the PYP curriculum, provides professional development and parent education, and supervises instruction and assessment. The PYP Coordinator serves as the administrator of the overall curriculum, providing all data, documents, and reports required by the school’s administration and the PYP office of the International Baccalaureate Organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• PYP Programming: Stimulate, motivate and monitor the development of the PYP programme. Supervise PYP implementation and IB authorization visits. Oversee the curriculum guide, curriculum map, and assessment policies. Serve as a liaison with the IB organization.
• Professional Development: Develop, plan, and lead in-house teacher training workshops. Conduct classroom visits and provide teacher feedback. Hold weekly planning meetings. Keep current with developments on IBNET and the OCC.
• Documentation: Monitor completion and storage of weekly lesson plans. Document all planning meetings and to keep dossiers of examples of work required. Store, track and provide all required data for the IB.
• Exhibition Supervision: Supervise the PYP Exhibition process, assign and work with mentors
• Community Education: Share information about the PYP, relating to its philosophy, curriculum and implementation. Plan and give presentations about the PYP to parents during parent education sessions, in cooperation with other staff members.

• You are a passionate educator and PYP enthusiast: You are a seasoned PYP teacher and enjoy sharing your deep knowledge of the PYP with others
• You are kind and compassionate: You are thoughtful in your interactions and you are great at putting teachers, families and students at ease.
• You are an outstanding communicator: You have excellent written and verbal skills in English. Mandarin fluency is a plus.
• You have amazing organizational skills: You enjoy creating, tracking and storing important IB documentation.
• You love technology: You are savvy with computers, Gmail, Google Drive, databases and more.
• You have a can-do attitude: You see challenges as opportunities for growth. 
• You thrive in a collaborative work environment: You love being part of a team, you are flexible and adaptable and willing to help others as needed

Requirements

• 5-10 years of PYP experience (at least 2 years as a PYP Coordinator or similar role)
• Bachelor's degree required
• Full fluency in English
• Strong experience with Apple technology implementation
• Fully vaccinated and up-to-date on all Covid-19 vaccinations for which you are eligible
• Fully authorized to work now and in the future in the U.S.
