Job Overview

The Motion Analysis Center Developmental Specialist (MACDS) is a fully funded hospital position who will collaborate with the local and home office research departments and other MACDS, System Motion Analysis Center (MAC) Physical Therapist and System MAC Engineer.

The role of the MACDS is to develop research and/or clinical programs that advance our understanding of movement analysis in pediatrics. Shriners Children's MACs primarily perform gait analysis, but is interested in expanding services for the upper extremity, spine and sports analysis. We are searching for candidates that are familiar with marker motion capture (preferable Vicon based) and can develop new models for motion. Shriner Children's is also interested in exploring the application of new technologies such as markerless 2D analysis and wearable sensors in pediatrics. A strong candidate will have the ability to code, preferably in Python, and have experience in statistical analysis of motion data, machine learning and/or management of large data sets.

This position is on-site and will be based on Lexington.

The pay range for this position is $48.72-73.08/hourly. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and department equity.

Responsibilities

* Works with the Corporate MAC Director, System MAC Engineer and Physical Therapist to develop new clinical lines of service, business plans or research grants/projects that improves quality of care, expands the population the MACs service, and develops new technologies.

* Works with Corporate MAC Director, SMAC PT and SMAC Engineers, to develop single and multiple site grant submissions that further motion analysis and clinical care provided by Shriners Children's.

* Strives to obtain 30% of their FTE through internal/external research grants, private foundations, the Donor Development Department or other appropriate funding organizations.

* Prepares timely grant budget and progress reports

* Designs, executes and interprets experimental biomechanical studies related to motion analysis

* Develops clinical programs that models motion using marker or markerless technologies.

* Using software compatible with all MACs, develops programs for processing, storage and retrieval of data.

* Leads in statistical analysis and interpretation of data collected for research projects and quality assurance programs

* Assures that studies involving human subjects are conducted in accordance with policies of the affiliated institutions as well as Shriner Children's.

* Works closely with Headquarters' Sponsored Research Team and Clinical Research Team to ensure all research is conducted following regulatory requirements and Shriners Children's research policies and procedures

* Coordinates with Clinical Research Coordinators (CRC) assigned to research or quality assurance projects

* Collaborates with outside institutions on multi-center research projects

Qualifications

Required:

* MS Degree

Preferred:

* PhD, DPT

* 5 years of motion lab, research, business development or marketing experience
