The SQF Practitioner is responsible for ensuring that the quality of product is of the highest standard. The SQF Practitioner audits products and processes, assists in corrective actions, collects and summarizes data that aides in decision-making, and updates SQF documents to ensure customer satisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and execute SQF plans to achieve/maintain SQF Level 2 Certification at the facility and to meet all Shorr Packaging requirements related to food safety & quality.
Communicate to all employees and relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System.
Manage finished product evaluation system and provide leadership to drive improvements in key customer/consumer Quality attributes.
Train, educate and coach, maintain all training records for critical food safety and quality requirements. Document and maintain training registry for all employees.
Performs daily monitoring activities on SQF programs including: Verification, Validation, Audits and Recordkeeping to ensure completion and compliance.
Provide guidance and leadership in situations where deviations have occurred, or a potential risk has been identified related to food safety and/or quality attributes.
Re-assess SQF plan whenever there is a change to program, process, procedure, ingredient, equipment, industry philosophy, technology, etc.
Oversee sanitation process.
Participates in food safety and other regulatory audits.
Maintains Log /Action Plans of required corrective actions for non-conformances and ensures closure of these issues.
Reviews all SQF related SOPs on an annual basis and coordinates with all other departments to ensure all SOPs are up to date.
Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices.
Participates in continuous quality improvement projects and other related activities as assigned.

Reports all rejected defects to Supervisor and follows established procedure. Documents and follows through until defect is corrected.
Trains new personnel on the importance of quality and on various warehouse quality systems and issues.

Communicates about quality with other shifts and departments verbally and through written documents according to established procedures.
Other job functions as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Management or 5 to 7 years in a LEAN, QA, Food Safety or Continuous Improvement role; or equivalent education and work experience.
Experience with ISO9001 quality standards and procedures preferred.
Strong computer skills with knowledge of ERP-based systems.
Familiar with SCAR/SQF documents
Able to communicate, develop and positively influence hourly personnel without direct authority.
Ability to collect, organize and analyze data; strong organizational skills and understanding of record keeping.
Detail oriented, follows through completely on issues regarding product quality.
Must be able to multi-task in fast paced sometimes pressured situations.
Strong interpersonal skills and able to be an effective team player.
Bilingual, English and Spanish, is strongly preferred.
