Reporting to the Director of International Outreach, the Associate Director of International Outreach is responsible for recruiting international students to Shoreline Community College by devising effective and innovative strategies and developing and maintaining productive partnerships. As an administrator in International Education (IE), this position works closely with departmental administrators, faculty, and staff to further department and College goals. Extensive international travel is integral and involves complex itineraries and engagements in sometimes challenging environments. NOTE: The position is expected to take 4-6 international trips per year for up to 6 weeks at a time, typically a total of 20 to 24 weeks of travel each year.Primary responsibilities include: Recruit international students for Shoreline Community College and increase international student enrollment from select traditional markets.Identify and develop new markets as needed (Latin America, and African countries, for example).Cultivate and maintain relationships with external entities to enhance international student recruitment efforts, including overseas high schools and universities, overseas agent partners, and Education USA, among others; serve as one of the primary contacts to partners in assigned countries providing comprehensive information related to the College’s offerings and admissions requirements.Represent the College effectively in assigned countries at international student recruiting fairs and marketing events.Work closely with IE’s Outreach team and department leadership to develop and implement international enrollment strategies, including setting recruitment goals, developing marketing strategies, and planning recruitment activities.Consistently review data and reports to assess effectiveness of current strategies to ensure best return on investment; closely follow student mobility trends and best practices in the field.Identify and pursue innovative opportunities such as new partnership models and technologies. Demonstrate agility in adapting strategies to shifting market conditions.Pursue armchair recruitment opportunities.Actively contribute to strengthening the outreach area’s support operations.Maintain active communication with international students, parents, recruiting agents, and educational partners.Seek guidance from relevant stakeholders on complex institutional matters.Actively contribute to marketing projects and promotional materials.Actively participate in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to student recruitment and marketing initiatives, ensuring legal requirements and College’s international goals are met.

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institutionTwo (2) years’ experience with international student recruitment OR equivalent Experience working with culturally diverse community members abroadExperience in direct marketing/sales as a representative of an educational product/service or equivalentKnowledge of: International admissions processes, as well as international student recruitment and enrollment managementForeign educational systemsCommunity colleges and the 2 2 university transfer pathwayRegulations related to F-1 nonimmigrant status, visas, and SEVISMicrosoft Office skills, Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Teams applications applicable to international student recruitmentFamiliarity with Slate or similar Customer Relations Management (CRM) systemTechniques for effective presentations and communication in a multicultural environmentSkill inFostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and competence.Successful international student recruitment and negotiation of business agreementsProblem solving/handling sensitive situations using sound judgement within policy and legal requirements. Effective interpersonal and cross-cultural communication within diverse audiences/groups. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships at all organizational levels.Working independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a positive attitude.Leadership; motivating staff and colleagues; effectively navigating conflict for successful outcomes.Time management and multi-tasking with partners to meet needs under competing deadlines.Learning/applying cultural fluency in the business and social practices of designated recruitment markets.Written and verbal fluency in English; ability to prepare concise and clear written materials. Licensing Requirements: Valid Passport OR ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.Valid unrestricted Washington State driver's license OR ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.Clean driving record (maximum of one (1) moving violation in the last 12 months, no suspension/revocation of license for reckless driving, hit and run, leaving an accident scene, failure to appear, DUI, or other vehicle-related misdemeanor in the last 5 years).
