Shoppa's Material Handling is Hiring a Tire Technician Near Fort Worth, TX

The primary function of a Tire Technician is to install and perform tire services on forklifts and other related material handling equipment in the shop and at customer locations by using the mobile tire press truck. This position requires basic mechanical knowledge, able to physically perform tire installation and the storage of tire inventory. This opportunity represents Shoppa’s Material Handling and requires professionalism, strong communication skills, attention to detail, great attitude, and outstanding customer service.

Essential Functions:

  • Safely, efficiently, and properly mount/dismount various sizes and types of industrial tires, utilizing a hydraulic 250-ton press inside the mobile tire truck
  • Stock the tires in proper locations and relocate or rearrange if necessary
  • Be able to identify normal wear & tear vs. abused tires
  • Restock the tire inventory on the truck
  • Ensure regular service maintenance is performed on tire truck.
  • Assure that all tools including jacks, rings, stands, etc. are kept in good condition
  • Notify Tire Dept. Manager when replacement is necessary for the tools
  • Complete tire work orders with model, serial numbers, hour meter readings, and note any repairs needing to be done
  • Drive in a safe and courteous manner. Every day is a major responsibility to insure the employees’ safety as well as others on the road
  • Complete and submit all paperwork (work orders and time cards) every day per company guidelines

Physical Job Demands:

  • Noisy shop environment; including customer sites. Must be able to lift 100lbs., stoop, squatting, pulling or working in awkward positions. Required to work in various applications ranging from inside non-climate controlled warehouses to working outside in various weather conditions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year material handling tire experience
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and ability
  • Detail oriented
  • Self motivated
  • Valid Drivers License with good driving record
  • Able to perform physical requirements
  • Strong communication skills and great customer service
  • Positive attitude
