Shoppa's Material Handling is Hiring a Shop Technician Near Kansas, MO

The Shop Technician will be responsible to inspect, diagnosis and repair of customer’s lift trucks and various material handling equipment. Conduct overall inspection to verify the truck is up to safety standards and perform maintenance, repair, replacement and troubleshooting as well as other duties required per management. This opportunity represents Shoppa's Material Handling and requires professionalism, great attitude, good communication skills and outstanding customer service.

Primary Responsibilities (include, but not limited to):

  • Read and understand electrical and hydraulic system schematics
  • Inspect the forklift and/or issues that were reported
  • Repair or replace major system components, including circuit boards and other electrical parts, hydraulic, mechanical, L.P. systems, power steering, transmissions and engines with limited supervision.
  • Perform engine tune-ups on equipment without supervision
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose most complex electrical systems on IC and electric trucks
  • Be able to use all special tools properly.
  • Follows all safety procedures in performing work as well as company policies
  • Verify the equipment is up to safety standards
  • Demonstrates exceptional customer service skills
  • Properly identify and order all necessary replacement parts
  • Perform other duties as required per management

Physical Job Demands:

  • Noisy shop environment; must be able to lift 100lbs., stoop, squatting, pulling or working in awkward positions. Temperatures in the shop are variable, with dramatic increases or decreases in response to the seasons.

Requirements (include, but not limited to):

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working on material handling equipment or heavy industrial equipment
  • Auto, truck, industrial or military equipment repairs experience will be considered
  • Tech school graduate preferred
  • Must have mechanic tools
